    Here is a tutorial: How to Flash your i900 Omnia phone - WinMo @ MoDaCo

    For most Samsung it's a simple task BUT not so with the i900 as Boot ROM damage is possible and if this occurs very (very, very) specialised equipment is required!

    My advise is to take it to an independent dealer who should have the required tools. I've flashed 1000's of Samsung phones but the i900 requires my bum cheeks firmly squeezed together!!

              This is not my work:

              After trying everything we could get our hands on (specially in this forum) about the OMNIA problem when updating the firmware version we discovered how to get the OMNIA back up!!

              This is what we did:

              1) We tried to update using VISTA.
              2) After downloading the first file the device stoped
              3) The 'Samsung OMNIA' screan apperas and nothing else happened - The second file just didn't download!
              4) After that the device only showed 'Samsung OMNIA' screen AND the had 'RED LIGHT' on.

              :-(

              To solve the problem follow the steps bellow:

              1) Download the WinControl software;
              2) Run it;
              3) Click on 'Software- Tweaks'
              4) Drag the MAGNIFIER right above the first check box and click SHOW ... a new check box should appear with the following text:

              **************** Emergency mode ******************

              5) Click on it and the 'Verify Device' button will be enable!
              6) Click on it and you should be able to update it !

              :-P

              Notes:
              i) We were using VISTA when the problem ocurred so we decided to change to another laptop with XP;
              ii) We downloaded the new updater for XP;
              ii) The firmware version we were trying to update was : i900DXHG3 to i900DXHJ1;

              I hope we explained well enough so all of you can get the same results we did

              =:-P

              Cheers.

                      all sorted now. succesfully unbricked. still confused as to why the phone part would not flash even on an xp machine. but still, all working now. thanks for all your help jim. how did you get to know so much about phones?

                        The smart answer is that I studied really, really hard... The truth is that I bricked thousands of phones on the way! Plus one important thing, no one knows everything! The real truth behind many clever people is not being afraid to ask for help!

                        I'm pleased all is OK again! Now we have three current versions of Windows (XP, Vista & 7) it's becoming tricky to guess which version to use!
