hello am new here, i have a huwaei 153u-2 and i would like to know if there is a software available to download for free to be able to unlock by broadband? i would love to try to unlock it using softwares available that is much more safer. tnx

just incase there is no available software to electronically unlock it and backup the firmware of my device. i would love to backup the firmware before reflashing it if its needed to reflash. am kind of hesitant to reflash it coz i might destroy the device firmware. if there is anytips in doing it in a safe way pls do advice me. tnx alot... am hoping to learn alot in this embeded system. tnx alot. i'll wait for the response

The rules on post #1 in this thread state that you need 5 non spam posts & that code requests don't count.
It also has links for software you can use without having to flash the dongle. Try those first, then if they fail, come back here.

Add to this that the codes you receive from this thread may not work on that model of huawei dongle & you may need to visit DC-unlockers for the unlocking solution.

Jim's the expert here, but I'm pretty sure I've got it right so far.

Quite correct!

Huawei have changed their locking system and anything with 04 as the 7th and 8th digit in the IMEI is usually impossible to unlock, certainly be free code!

IMEI: xxxxxx-04-xxxxxx-x are the problematic IMEI numbers!

Huawei are now getting quite clever and producing modems not only with completely new code sets but also special firmware for certain service providers!

The E173 is shown as being supported by www.dc-unlocker.com but note that there are two versions!
