If you've got the money or it's on contract. Have a look at the Samsung Galaxy S.

1Ghz Samsung Processor that puts the Desire to shame. It's also on Android & is packed with all the goodies you need. Including 'Swipe text', if I've got it right, you don't touch each letter individually you slide your finger over each letter in turn without breaking contact with the screen.
Early reviews of this are loving it.

The Desire is one of the best on the market, stomps all over the Iphone. But new models are coming out all the time.

Hey there, I am using an iPhone and since I am very interested in Android - I recently checked out the Samsung Galaxy S (i9000). I must say it is an excellent device! On the plus side:
          - fast camera
          - plays divx avis and high resolution
          - fast
          - android market and samsung widgets!

so thats my suggestion for anyone who is interested in Android!

Mate, I have two and previously an iPhone user, I love HTC Desire..

No Itunes pish... not authorising the computer..

its magic !! open source, drag and drop music like a flash drive, you dont loose anything if you connect it someone elses computer..

screens are exactly same and the new 2.2 android update will let you install apps on SD card..

honestly mate, you wont regret it..

Battery life on all Smart phones is the same.. it takes battery because most folk leave thier GPRS and GPS on (some have bluetooth on) which draines the battery.. have them off and only switch it on when you use and holla !! my battery lasts 2 days.. and I use it all the time..

The simple rule is..... Turn off 3G unless you want to go on-line.

It's the same 1Ghz 'snapdragon' processor that is in BOTH devices! HTC Desire and the Galaxy S.
And it is fast! very... google maps, the street view opens up as fast as a computer.

Load of shite I am afraid.. lasts 'quite' a while.. obviously dependant on what you use it for, but, I never turn off, GPS, 3G, WiFi, Bluetongue or whatever, and it lasts .. well could be 3 days.. ish..
I had the G1 when it first came out.. and that did struggle to last a day, this was partially cured by firmware updates, and the novelty wearing off from the user. The HTC Desire is Smiles better.

My only gripe, is the signal is shite where I am at.. it used to be satisfactory with the G1, but seems to be worse with this desire.

I do like the Galaxy tho, but.. 22months, 1 week, 3 days, 16 hours till this contract ends.

It is a very beautiful, very fast fone Nailer. My main concern is signal strength, not a problem in good areas, cities etc.. but worse than my G1 where I sit by the computer.

Apps, you could argue (and win) apple have more, but I bet they don't have as many free ones as Android.. and even the 'not free' ones are easy to pick up on Android.

I don't know why people rave about HD tho? fair enough if your gonna connect your fone to the 108" Plasma that I have in the bathroom, but on a fone screen??

Nice fone mate.. I likes it.

The snapdragon processor in the Galaxy S has been bosted with a GPU which the desire doesn't have.

I'm not knocking the Desire. The Galaxy S isn't the perfect phone just yet... but with the release of 2.2 shortly I've got my fingers crossed.
