Dude, are you repeating yourself here, or have we now got an echo chamber on DK?

      LOL CC no mate,

what I did was create two posts, one for the desire and one for the galaxy,

So that owners of each phone could leave comments as to what they don't like on their specific phone.

I've read shit loads of reviews on both phones and opinions differ, with all saying different things about the pro's and cons of each phone.

the desire HD is definately faster and more responsive and the build quality is really nice I found the samsung felt way too plasticy and cheap. i like something that feels solid in the hand. The sense UI is really cool too with image enhancement for the camera and the home screen, great stuff.

check out the desire-z , flip out hardware keyboard. Top phone. Best of both worlds especially when typing out emails or text longer than a few words .

don't mention it since you're interested....here's a link to a site full of clever people hell bent on cutomising and getting the most out of HTC's lineup.. reviews, custom Roms, apps, themes,.... lots of reading for you... I've got a HTC TouchPro2 (the WinMo little brother of the desire-z) and the custom ROM i've got on it now is far-far better than the stock HTC rom.... lots of customisation to be had and tons of support....

            xda-developers

the desire, desire-z and HD all have seperate sub-furums so have a read.

The Desire Z has a smaller CPU (800Mhz) & camera (5MP) compared to the Desire HD. Yes, the Z has a hardware qwerty keyboard, but the qwerty on the HD is just as effective.

I have a TYTNII with the hard qwerty keyboard. Yes it is nice to use, but I can type faster on the soft on-screen qwerty on my Omnia HD

The Desire HD is an excellent phone. I absolutely love it! Only bad deal is the shorter battery life due to large screen, but its definitely worth it!

Dont know about desire HD but the desire is pretty good, the battery life is ok as a phone but very short if you are using it for apps, it will not last you all day so you will need a spare.

I'm a big fan of the TP2's hardware keyb...hourses for courses though, all comes down to how much text inputing you do...make sure you have a good-ol play with any chosen phone-gadge before signing on the line, esp check out typing with a chosen touch-screen device.. for me a hardware keyboard is untouchable.. as you can 'feel' where your fingers are in relation to the keys....no need to keep checking for errors and if you can already type blind on a normal keyboard you just need to learn the spacing... i 've seen voice software that reads your touch-screen key-strokes back to you as you type, but reminds me of a speak-n-spell, also hardware keys are re-mappable to just about anything through software, good to have real keys for games, and the on-screen keyboard popping-up everytime there is a text box, filling up over half the screen can be a bit of an arse too.... can be a bit too wide for one hand to hold and reach all the buttons at the same time (eg while driving, or operating heavy machinery).. . <off topic> still.. for writing blind... imho, nothing beats a nokia 6210 with T9 and a few choice words added to the dictionary...

Desire HD gets my vote too. It's my first Android phone, and I'm seriously impressed.

Can't fault my Desire. It is by far the best phone I have ever had.
The HD is a good bit bigger physically, you have got to try one in your hand, to see if you can live with the size. The extra screen width will be handy when using it, but when its in your pocket its another matter. I sometimes need my glasses on for the small text of my standard Desire, but once it is in browser mode I just zoom to read it.
The software keyboard is not an issue for me. I had the G1 with physical keyboard, and when the OS was updated to include soft keyboard, I never went back to the physical.
I won't knock the samsung, because I don't know about it. Same processor, so it will be fast. Think it may even have a graphics chip too. I did hear of a dual core phone being released sometine soon.
