Constant crashing with Vix (Log attached)

Its just occured to me that the box isn't crashing as such, it more just reebooting frequently if that helps?

Looks like it may be an EPG memory issue.

I've reduced the number of epg providers to 2 from 5 and it seems ok so far.

I'm wondering whether I could get away with adding another?

correct that is not a crash log, but rather a debug log.

also if this happens again try the following command via a telnet session.

df -h

This will tell you how much free space you have in the flash and any connected devices such as HDD's or USB sticks etc.

if its the EPG thats crashing the box how many are you trying to download at once, I know last year when i had my 9000 i had every rytec provider ticked for epg for multisat and only once or twice did it crash, That was when Rytecs where always available these days i use opentv for Sly and manually do 1 at a time on the rytec ones for multisat.

At the moment I'm only using rytec Italy, Spain & Poland (germany seems to populate on its own) and the box is running really sweet with Vix, no more hanging like before.

I suspect that it was either the French data or a lack of memory using more than 3 providers that was causing the probelems.

It does still occasionaly hang for a few seconds either when changing boquets or sometime when doing an IMBD search. But I would imagine thats normal?

I've got my picons on a USB.

Is that the best place for them or would they be better on the internal flash?

Gotta say I love this box and Vix now its running well for me. The EPG is amazing.

Glad your getting it sorted at last, Yes picons and EPG probably better on a usb as these are accessed more than anything else on the box, I know rytec servers are not as stable as they use to be thats why i only download the epg that i need now for each satellite or else i end crashing the box also.

I get crashes when leaving the guide or zapping from the guide not very often but from time to time. I have a fixed dish setup and only using OpenTV for 28.2E.

@ midnight rider just done a 3 tests today at different times with the rytec servers, Now before anyone says anything not quite the same box or image but all images have to use either opentv or rytec servers for the full epg listing.

Ok as i said tested 3 times at different intervals on my Vu+ Ultimo with Blackhole 1.7.1 i ticked OpenTV for 28.2? east and in the Rytec providers i had everything ticked apart from OSN/showtime and the Rytec ~~~~ ;-) and also missed out Rytec Greece as i had the Rytec Greece in english so a lot of epg's to download.

Result was downloaded every EPG from all providers and no crashes at all, Like i said tested at different intervals and not a single problem or crash.

I've stuck with just the three epg's for now and apart from the occasional momentary hang whilst changing channel the box has been very well behaved.

Although, I do seem to be losing the USB mount very frequently and usualy after the box has been in standby for a while. Seems as if a few other vix users are having the same trouble with 2.3.

Hopefully it'll get sorted soon.

I would say give another image a go you have nothing to lose, you can always go back to Vix at any stage and you never know you might like the other images.
