will sky remote control tv with sky free to air system

have a sky box from an old subscription
have hooked it up to my telly but wont control the tv
have tried all types of pin codes from the net
none seem to be working
my guess is i need to be subscribed to get it working
anyone else any ideas

yeah it can be difficult to find the correct code some times What make/model tv do you have.if you try different codes from the same maker but different brands that may help EG;alba and bush are the same etc;.and if you state what tv you have someone may know the code for it I got the code for my LG that way.not being subscibed shouldnt make any difference

From what I can recall, you need to go into the settings and manually setup the channels.
Do a search on how to set up the box.
The box will only work with a direct link to the dish (ie no diseqc).
