    Satellite Receiver Advice

    Hello,

So far I have an uninstalled 80cm dish and a Technomate Super 5600+ CI. I am looking to get another receiver (for use in another room), budget is ?90-?100. Plan to have it up and running next week.

I want something that I can patch or tinker with without the box being constantly online. I am a newbie, I understand this is called softcam?!

My planned set up is going to be 13E, 19.2E and 28.2, primarily for FTA channels.

I would like to get ESPN America easily and without too much complication. 13E is my essential satellite - the other two can change. Getting ESPN America is a priority, I will use a different alignment if I can obtain it easier.

Please suggest any receivers suitable for my needs and from which satellite I can source ESPN America.

hi and welcome to dk. you can get nasn (espn america) and espn classic via b.i.s.s. on eurobird9a@9east. you could add another lnb for 9 east on a multi-bracket with a 4-way switch then you could still have 28.2/19.2/13 east using your 80cm although the dish would have to be spot on and use quality low noise lnb,s. if you want a new reciever then say a tm600 or tm500 super with a ethernet connection and card slot would give you options for the future if you decided that you wanted more. you could use the tm600/500 super as the main stb and the tm5600ci for the other room . depending on what you wanted to achieve if you used 4/ twin-lnb,s and 2x 4-way diseqce switches you could have 2 seperate stb,s recieving channels from all 4 orbital positions independant from each other.these are just my suggestions and im sure others will say/think different. regards mdt

I Recommend a small dreambox 500s clone, really good box, has Ethernet and is internet compatible, can use C/S in the box also, great box mate !

Thanks for all the replies. Will look into the receivers recommended so far.

Is 9e the easiest way to get ESPN America/NASN?

          Thanks

here m8 first load the patch and then the softcam. you may have to enter the b.i.s.s. key for nasn manually in the cas/biss menu. i have added a file with the key for you(thanks to @xxxxxx). regards mdt

Thanks mdt, I will give it a go on Thursday/Friday when the dish goes up. I presume I can add those files in any order.

Is there any other software that I can add to the receiver to open anything else up?

Hey, thanks for this info! I have been searching about this topic for a few days,a nd this has been the best reply I have read so far I plan to buy a Kathrein UFS 912 receiver, so I assume the "Phantom Patch" mdt posted will only work on the Technomate receiver. Is there something sililar available for Kathrein receivers? They are Linux based, so I would guess there is (?)
                        Thanks!

Linux based receivers dont use patches as such and those posted by MDT are for non linux receivers.
And yes theya re for TM non linux only.

Oh, thanks for the reply. Is there any way of going about it in a Linux-based receiver (like Kathrein)? I'm reading about some softcams like CCCam or OScam, are either of these applicable to ESPN on 9?E, or am I barking up the wrong tree?
...or well, basically, how would I go about opening ESPN on 9E with a Kathrein? Is it possible?
                            Thanks.

Latest key files should have the biss keys in them.
