It all depends on what your wanting.

If you want a box to record or HD then the 500s is out.

The 7000 is just the same as the 9000HD but with less output connections but you would be using HDMI so no hassle and it cost less than then 9000HD.

500s is a good starter box and does what it needs to do.

The 800s is a all round cracking box and cant fault it now thatthe tuner issues have been sorted but you always run the risk of buying a clone from china but so far so good with them.

I found this post very interesting, however I have a friend who has just got a Blade Receiver and finds it the bees knees.
could you are anyone tell me where to get the set up instructions for the Blade receiver, I beleive it has to have a internet connection. where does one find the loader for the firmware
I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction

Here you go mate, extract it and flash via usb from the menu then download option. Also attached a channel list for you. Channel list is a few weeks old tho.

Yes, Maybe he thinks its a good box, but what does he have to compare it too, I mean, Have you seen some of the box's these days ? ( VU+Duo, Spiderbox with free footy ) ETC !

The Duo might be a good box but ? wise I wouldn't touch it nor the solo for that matter.

Spider is just the same as the blade minus the gift. Both as HD PVR boxes with CS capabilities and are both reasonably priced.

Only for a period of time tho then it runs out. Bit I liked it when I had the spider too. Another great starter box.

go for a ferguson ariva 100e for around ?80

                      HD
                      PVR
                      CCCAM
                      NEWCAM (server & client)

I hear the blade has issues where you cannot have 2 blades connected to the same router connecting to the same server (obviously diff accounts)

The openbox / solomond s9 or what ever its called also has issues where it jus randomly reboots!

If any 1 wants a ferguson ariva 100e look on ebay.de thats where i got mines from

What are these fergusons like, easier than a DM500S for personal living room use with C/s, i wouldn't want to be playing around with it as it would be for family and not personal use !

After what seems a decade asking myself the same question...

Blade 7000x2 with Blade 500 on same router with no conflicts. Did find some glitching on the HD to find the SD lines were solid but the HD was freezing, changed lines and no problems since.

Do agree with above that any box is the bees knees when you first jump into this hobby..but it is a hobby and you change improve and spend money like any other hobby.

Have still got me old Maxx best ?100 spent then and when things go wrong can still boot it up and watch free gifts, limited but like the Spiderbox a good intro
