Overspill, I think would be the major problem. Irish channels show a lot of UK TV (soaps etc.) so if they were beaming it into the UK, they would be in danger of competing with the other channels that show the same stuff.

The overspill from the UK to Ireland is not so bad, as there are only a few of us over here!!, but the overspill the other way would increase the potential audience manyfold.

Actually, were using that first Russian discarded rocket called the Sputmick.
            I believe they're going to use 39e.

It will broadcast from 9e if I'm not mistaken, and will be on Ku band so a new LNB will be needed for it. The beams will be very highly focused and there won't be much overspill. It's unlikely those in mainland britain will receive it.

Yeah, typical. To be honest I can't see me setting a new dish up just for this unless it's pretty special.

Might be possible to put a multi-lnb bracket on a sky minidish though, since its less than 20 degrees apart. Not sure tho.

I was just thinking that rte don't live in the real world (cushioned by license fee,ads and what ever sly give them) so the people affected by this new scam of theirs are the people on ariels and in the present recession not many are gonna change for the crap on offer-though they think they offer a world class service-so I think they may just get their answer shortly.

I was recently on their website reading a news article and i commented, mildly slating rte policy on something. No way would they publish my comment despite me asking a few times why they wouldn't. Makes me glad I didn't bother with the licence fee last few years.

It will be a DVB-T service and DVB-S, so hopefully those with aerials up might get it? I don't know much about terrestrial tv so maybe not. Hopefully so!
