    Ross 65cm Satellite

    Ross Satellite Kit, 5015056510002

What satellites could I pick up with this dish (not necessarily the box though)? If it was mounted to the wall and not on a motor, could I pick up more than one satellite?

Yes, if you have it as a fixed dish you can use it as a multi-lnb set up. I have a similar sized dish (old sky 60cm dish) with lnbs for 28e (sky channels) 19e as the prime focus and then 13e on the other side. This is then fed into a diseqc switch which selects which lnb to select. Will give you loads of channels to watch.

As well as your dish you need a lnb bracket holder, diseqc switch and a couple of lnbs. Probably looking at around ?25ish for all the extra bits or you could attempt to make your own bracket.

There are monoblocs lnbs as well these are two lnbs with a built in switch and do not require a bracket. Mostly used for 19e and 13e so will.miss out on UK channels. The problem with these are that they are normally configured for 80cm dishes.

You bought all the necessary stuff from b & q? Is making the satellite motorised likely to make it more expensive? I'm trying to keep the cost down, but will definitely need someone to put the dish up for me. Forgive my stupidity, I'm an old cable stalwart finally attempting to make the move to satellite!

A motor is about ?40 and you would need a new mount for the dish as I don't think the one that comes in that kit will be good enough. If you paying for an install then that's going to be another ?100 odd.

More satisfying putting a dish up yourself. Have a look around the outside of your house as someone might have had sky previously and removed the dish. Makes the job a little easier then, if you don't have kids you might be able to ground mount the dish if you don't like ladders.

Before you jump in, have a look at dishpointer.com to get an idea of where to install the dish. Select Thor 0.8w, and make sure you have clearance for the eastern sats to the right of the green line (you won't receive many western sats on a 65cm). Ideally you should be able to point your dish at Thor, that will be your 0 position.

Did u go for the motor? I've got this dish at 13e (sly mini dish pointing at 28.2e)
Was wondering if I would be able to get 19.2e and 4.8e on a multi bracket

Dish is very small and you would struggle to pick other stuff up. Though 19.2e is very strong that dish is small!
                        Just stick bigger dish up.

                              I went for a 1 metre with a motor. I don't think you'd get 4.8e with this mate.
