satalite equipment looking for new home

    Hi
I am looking to rehome some satalite equipment following the death of my grandfather who was a satalite enthusiast. He has a large dish, about 6 foot wide, and some other equipment which I don't know what it is but can find out. This is all in south east London. The dish and some, maybe all of the equipment was bought about 20 years ago. Is there likely to be someone out there who wants it? Is this the best way to go about advertising or can anyone suggest any other ways are finding someone who might want it. As you can probably guess I have no idea about satalites but this was a hobby he really enjoyed and we hope this equipment can go to someone who shares his enthusiasm.

sounds like the dish could be worth having as the op states its 6 foot (1.8m). regards mdt

You might want to make a note of what receiver equipment there is and add that info in case any one here can advise. It might not be as old as his interest was, but if it really is that old, then sadly dumping it is a pretty likely option

Sorry to hear the loss of your Grandfather. My house is a bit like a satellite sanctuary where old dishes can see out there last few years in peace.

Unfortunately dish is to big for me to fit in the sanctuary at the moment. Maybe stick it in the freebie section on gumtree in your area.

I'm sure someone will take an interest in your equipment or maybe take it up as a hobby? Your already a member of the best forum!

Thanks everyone, I wasn't thinking it was sellable but I was reluctant to freecycle it as you tend to get people who will take any electtronic equipment not knowing what it is. Next time I am at the house I will have a better look at the equipment and post on here to see if anyone is interested. If not I will try freecycle before sending it to the tip.
              Thanks for your advice.

absolutely not true what so ever. up-until very recently i was using a 3 meter channel master dish that it self was well over 15 years old and it hands down pissed all over the 1 meter dish / motor combination i now use.

just because it's old does not meany its worthless. yes the receivers / lnb will be of no use as they will all be analogue but they will be worth it to a collector or enthusiast.
