    noob help

    Hi,

im currently in the planning stage of a tv server for the home. I can no longer warrent the exortiate amounts charged by sly so I need to do something

my plan is to do the following

    1. use my current sly dish with a hauppage nova S2 card for decoding freeview

    2. add an additional card to control a 80cm - 1m motorised dish (hauppage card is unsuitable i believe as it wont support disceq)

    3. use softcams and tvheadend running on ubuntu to decode what I can.

what i cant find out though is what I will be able to decode (i dont want to spend a few hundred pounds to just get some saturday afternoon football).

basically what channels are available to me when using softcams

oh and if it matters im based in the north east of england

    Thanks and Hi

What your asking is illegal and you wont get any help here.

Google Card Sharing and you questions should be answered.

If i wanted card sharing, I wouldnt be bothered about motorised dishes, I would just look for card sharing for sly.

my understanding was the decoding signals not available to pay for in the uk is legal (and is currently at the european court to decide once and for all)

There is virtually nothing open on softcams + keys these days. The softcams are capable of decoding the encryptions, but you also need the keys to open the channels. A few years ago there were quite a few packages open, premiere, digital+, taquilla, sky italia, tps. Those were the good old days but I'm afraid you've missed the boat.

Your only option is cardsharing but we are not allowed to discuss it here. Have a google and good luck with your venture!
