    SNR level comparison

    Hey,

Just thought I'd do some level recording of my 1.1m dish. I'm curious to see what others are getting on the same channels. If some could check 1 or 2 channels are post their signal levels, I'd be grateful.

    Here are mine:
(Rather than use the strongest TP, I just used the channels I'm most likely to watch)

    TurkSat 42e SporMAX Snr: 11db 68%
    HellasSat 39e Nova Sport Snr: 9.5 59%
Astra 28.2 BBC ONE HD Snr: 13.5db 84%
Badr 26e MTV Snr: 12.5db 78% (330 channels found after full scan - possibly pulled from 28)
Astra 23.5 Nova Sport HD Snr: 13.0db 81% (Strangely, Tune fails on all Kabel Deutschland with latest sat.xml)
    Astra 19.2 Sky Sports 1 Ger Snr: 14.5db 90% (16.5db 100% on Canal+ Deportes)
EutelSat 16e Tring Super Snr: 14.5db 90% (missed by USALS, had to weak positioner to find)
    Hotbird 13e Sky Sports 1 Italia Snr: 13db 81%
    EutelSat 10e BFBS 1 Snr: 11.5db 71%
    Eurobird9A 9e HD Sport Snr: 12db 75%
EutelSatW3A 7e EPL Snr: 10.5db 65% (again, had to tweak with positioner)
    Astra4A 4.8e Free-X TV Snr: 14.0db 87%

    Thor 0.8w Discovery HD Snr: 18.0db 100% (Canal Sport HD - 12db 75% and only 8db 50% on Sport 1)
    AtlanticBird5 5w Orange Sport HD Snr: 14.5db 90%
    Nilesat 7w Any Channel Snr: 0db 0%
Hispasat 30w Sport TV HD Snr: 15.5db 96%

i seriously would not worry about it. no receiver made will give you a true representation of SNR, at best use it as a rough guide.

Most receivers give different snr readings.
My Dm500 or 600 wont lock any signal below 70% whereas my Dm800 works on a snr of 30% and most transponders are less that 70% snr.
