    New System Help

I've got a motorised dish and old receiver i'm looking to replace.

I'll keep the dish and motor and am looking at a protek 9750hd receiver and a Vbox to move the dish.

My router is in another room so I suppose i'll need the ethernet homeplugs as well.

Is this a good setup ?

Are there any receivers that will give me protek and cccam support ?

Are there any systems that will get updates wirelessley so no need for the ethernet homeplugs ?

What about the soon to be released protek hd receiver ?

Any help with this would be great.

    Have a look here - http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...-boxes-121762/

I've got a DM800 with a with a motorised dish, connected via a VBox it works a treat with Disecq 1.2. Ethernet Homeplugs are useful but I hear they are notorious for causing interference to short wave radio reception.

The reason I was looking at ethernet plugs was because I didn't want to have a 10 meter cable running through the house. This is why i'd love to find a system that updated using my wireless system. Are there any ?

Any other ideas on a good system ? I'm looking for HD and want to get as many channels as possible for sports and films.

I already pay over ?50 for sky and would happily find another way to get sky cheaper but i'm quite new to card sharing.

Home plugs work fine i have never had trouble with them it's only a bit of data being transfered to and throw, and for me a nice workable reasonable cheap box which ticks all the box's ie:- HD, Linux, Ccams config etc a dreambox 800, take a look at the dreambox section lots of info on there and you are on the right track, just a bit more reading....:-)

A DM800HD clone with a wireless USB, set up to a VBOX and a big enough dish (depending where you are) 1m+ ideally with a motorised actuator arm will get you a lot of the channels out there. Plenty of satellites to choose from with numerous amount of HD & 3D channels with new ones being transmitted monthly. In regards to c/s your better off googling and building your knowledge base. There are two routes 1.You share your package and receive something you like in return. 2. Join a Pay server and pay anywhere from 10 to 30 Euro's per month. Take a test line 1st and see if you like the package and whether the server is suitable for your vienwing pleasure.

So if I get one of these (vonets) I can upade using the wireless broadband ? Do no need for any cables or homeplugs ?

I'm now looking at a clone dm800 hd or a protek 9750. The clone is about ?100 cheaper but I imagine harder to setup and I can't get the protek channels. However I can get other channels using the clone via downloads and it can be used for card sharing. Is this correct ?

Anything else I need to look for as I want to buy early next week.

I used to update my receiver via a cas3 programmer and diablo cam. Is it just as easy to update a clone machine, just get the files and load them onto the receiver ?

Are the files easy to get and available here ?

Thanks to everyone so far for their help, I just want to get this purchase right.

The wireless will enable you to connect to your router without the need for a Home plug or an ethernet cable. The Clones are really good and work without any problems, i've had mine for a while and has'nt had a problem (touch wood). If you look in the Sat dreambox section there is plenty of support so no need to worry. Many clones come preloaded with an image, then all you need to do is find a suitable sever, plenty on google and on other forums, PM me if you want the sites, The server will give you a line which you load into the box and away you go. Theres plenty you can do with the box, have a bit of a read and i'm sure you'd come to grips with it in no time

What is an image ? Ive seen many systems come with things like Gemini programmed is that just the operating system ?

Do any systems come with cccam loaded ?

Do you need to use any cards or can everything be loaded straight to the box ?

A big yes Gemini, Open Pli, Blackhole, Newnigma to name a few are images.

Do any systems come with cccam loaded ?
Some do but if not they can be downloaded via the internet blue panle or TS panle plugin or added manually via ftp.

Do you need to use any cards or can everything be loaded straight to the box ?
No cards needed just load everything to the box (Usually the box will come fully loaded DM800 i mean, not sure about the protek), a bit of configurring and all should be ok to recieve fta channle, to recieve premiums add a cl++e and bob's your uncle.

Cards are used when you have a legit subscription which i believe you need to configure but all can be found in the forums as stated previously.

You are looking for a sim 201 / M tuner version which is the more up to date box.

Not being funny it goes the same with the dreambox 800, mine came with it fully loaded, all i did was load the bouquets and cl++e, tuner set up and bobs your uncle.

And later on when you get used to the box which you will you will find alot of joy from it, ie:- plug ins, different images, streaming etc.....and the support on here is second to none.... but it's your choice.
