    Moving from Cable to Sky?

    Hi all!!!
    I currently have a780 all be it limited veiwing. Iam moving house and it has a sky dish with cables coming in to lounge.
    Can i buy a box to work from this dish or do i need to buy a new Dish. Thanks in advance

    The sky dish will be fine if you just want to receive sky digital fta.

          Share line? Do you mean ethernet port? Sorry not good with tech stuff.

            Well you would need a ethernet port if you are going down the C/S root which i thought you were getting at!!

              You need a linux receiver, i.e. Dreambox, spiderbox, VU+, openbox, etc...

                been looking at those boxes at an entry level spiderbox and dreambox 500 ,any idea which is the easyist on to get going for a newbie to the sat game, i am on same setup as above poster.

                  I would say out of those, the openboxes are the easyiest & quickest if you have a line to put in as you can simply type the line straight in without the need to connect the box to the PC like you would for a Dremabox.

                  The Spiderbox should also be plug & play & you can also type the line straight in aswell.

                  That's just my experiences anyway.

                  How long the S*y lasts for is anyones guess but i would say less then 12 months at a wild guess.

                    Spiderbox is very easy to use but there are newer cheaper boxes on the market have a look through the forum you could get something better for less than ?100

                      thanks for the reply mate, was looking around and there seemed a few decent deals for spiderbox, hadnt really looked at open box .

                        have seen the blade box getting good reviews but was a bit worried about setting up as there seems to be a lot of feedback on the other models if i come a cropper along the way, just going to start with a cheapo model and learn as i go along, thanks for you help

                          Have a look at these get on the band wagon early loads open on them and can get them under ?90 for HD

                            Best starter box for money is Dreambox 500s.
                            Very well supported on most forums,simple.
