Do i need a new tv aerial

Alright , see if someone can fathom this one out , downstairs i have sky and a tv with built in freeview , all channels are present and correct sky and freeview , im 4 miles from the transmitter . I decided to tee into my aerial cable using a proper spilitter , not the cheap nasty plastic crap and decent cable and connectors, i brought the cable into the bairns bedroom and into a freeview box , retuned the box , and got , NOTHING , . Checked and double checked all cables and connectors ,all good and splitter is correctly fited , still nothing . Why i am i getting a perfect signal downstairs but nowt upstairs , is my downstairs signal on freeview being amplified via my sky box ? even though i turn the sky off to watch freeview . Please help

Do I need a new aerial

Is the spitter before the connection to your sky box and NOT a loop through ?
Are you scanning analogue channels and not Digital (DTV) channels ?
Most analogue channels have been switched off now and you need to go to menu and do a scan on DTV channels ONLY.

If you are using a loop through on the sly box it needs to be on standby and not powered off.

Failing all that then the splltter is faulty ~ try connecting the box without the splitter.

    Hope this helps

Try the freeview box downstairs to make sure it is not faulty.

Ive got the splitter about 2 foot from the aerial , ive switched the splitter around and still get great digital reception downstairs so the splitter is ok, ive unplugged the sky cables from the skybox to rule that out , still excellent signal downstairs ,according ro the signal meter on the upstairs digi box i have no signal yet everything is all properly set up , ive tried disconnecting the downstairs cable from the splitter incase it was robbing upstairs of signal , nowt . Both tv and digi box worked fine prior to digi switchover

you dont need a splitter just run your cable from the rf 2 out on the back of your sky box, make sure your aerial is plugged into the aerial input on the sky box, if this dont work then it is either your rf connectors have not been fitted correct or you must have a break in your wire.......BJ1 .ps you may need to retune your digi box .
