Please recommend satellite dish / lnb combination and which reciever to go for

Hello all, im just about to delve into satellite world for the first time and in time for the new football season. A couple of years back before nagra 3 came in and i had eurovox ex7000HD box and since then i have had to subscribe to sly. however im a bit pi((ed of with the coverage, having paid over ?500 per year i expect to see all footy matches which include 3pm kick-offs, which has not been the case. so therefore satellite is my only option.

Before i actually buy the equipment i got a few queries which i would like to have answered before parting cash. So please help if you can.

1 - Do i need to subscribe to any packages eg tring card??? (note - i dont want to pay for this - seems quite expensive)

2 - any recommendations to satellite dish / lnb combination??? (live in derby - east midlands)

3 - which receiver box would you recommend??? (something similar to eurovox ex700HD would be great). (flashing the receiver should not be a problem - hopefully) -------------- MUST BE HD

if anyone can help it would be much appreciated. Thank You.

80cm+ size dish motorised and a spiderbox 7000/9000hd as this is a very easy box to use, also you will get loads of gift channels and there is plenty of support/help on these boxes if you want to get premier league footy you will have to google cardsharing as we cannot talk about this on here, there are loads of other stb,s that meet your criteria but that is the one i would recomend......bj1

Spiderbox is a nice box, but it's a little bit boring, Linux boxes are far more powerful with lot's of toys to tinker with.

IMO, any Linux based receiver plus and subscription to a Cardshare will be perfect.

If you look hard enough you might even find a decent free server.

damn, i may be mistaken but i thought i would get all footy setup for around ?200/300 mark. now from the info it seems as though this will cost more than sky tv.

what will this setup cost? im asking this because sky offered me half price on everything.

          tring card = ?200+
          dm800 or other receiver = ?150+
          motorised dish setup = ?100

total = ?450 - thats what i predict would cost, seems very expensive.
          Am i wrong?

            No mate.

            Absolutely not.

Forget the Tring card. Just buy a C -line from a server, pay no more than ?100/year, for that price you should get access to Sky UK/Ger/Ita along with a shit load of foreign providers which are great for footy, movies and naughty ladies.

if you get yourself a decent payserver you will not need tring card.....you can pay your payserver monthly... around a tenner a month...

dont even know what a payserver is (is it cardsharing- a person buys a genuine subscriptions and then copies are made of their subscription card)

In my experience , the openbox HD S9 & S10 are very easy to set up, much easier than the more complex linux boxes such as Dreambox.
These are going for less than ?70 now aswell.

You simply type in the C-line into a certain screen of the box & connect up the box to your router and way you go.

But google is your best way forward for a paid line.

If you go the official route & get a Tring card, you could probably get way with paying less than ?400.

That is cheaper than sky as you said you were paying ?500 for that & you only get about a third of the games with Sky.

However, Tring is not yet HD although there are plans for that i have read. But you do get about 8 or 9 of the 10 Premier league games each week.
Also Sat 3pm FA Cup games aswell.

I guess it's all about budget at the moment though.

If you are wanting HD qaulity you really dont want to spend on a Tring card.

Dont want to get into a flame war re the advantages of Tring, just saying.

And dont forget, once you pay out for the initial setup, it's good for years.

I have a dm 800hd clone, best thing I ever bought.
