    Protek boxes still good?

    Hi guys,

Was thinking of getting one of the boxes, but since ive been very busy with other stuff, ive not had a chance to keep up with the latest news in the sat world.

I've always been intertested in a protek box, but i was wondering if its still good? mainly need it for the new season, and doesnt matter if its HD or not price maybe 180 no more, got a motor dish 80cm, and can anyone tell me of a good seller?

    Cheers guys.

the protek boxs are still running fine and there a a few to choose from both sd and hd. the 9600ip or unix 500 can be bought for around ?130 and the unixbox is linux(dm500s clone) and can be custumised also. the 9700/9750/9760 are all hd and are around ?250 but if you shop around you can get the 9700 for around ?200.. there is a new protek mk 1 which has just been released and this is also linux based although info is a bit thin on the ground. there are also 9600ip (clones).. maxx1000/legend type boxs which are very similar to the 9600ip although they are not 100% certain to connect the the darkforce server although saying that ive installed over 20 of these and only 1 didnt connect at first but a fix is available. my advice would be add ?20 to your budget and go for a 9700. regards mdt

Oh right, cheers for the feedback guys, if i can get a HD one for 200 then i'll probably do that.

as for nova, their system is soo good, its always gonna be hard to get that, c/s wise, but i know they got a package from germany, that should do me fine.

Is the box easy to set up?

the retzina package isnt down but operating on a reduced capacity which could be a card issue but even so the darkforce team have a excellent track record and if its possible to add more channels/packages they usually do it. spain and germany carry the fapl games and along with jsc for all the other footy. if gift type boxs are your thing the protek boxs sit at the top of the tree imho. regards mdt

Good boxes and well worth the money. Normally pick up the 9600 cheap as chips nowadays.

I have a protek 9700, which is a great little box for the money and very stable, issues with retsina but no doubt they will be fixed soon. Also box supports n?wc@md, so opens up other avenues. cant go wrong with box
9600's are still about, but not HD and open fewer packages.
9700/9750 are both very easy to setup via USB, and a doddle compared to an OpenboxS10 which i am currently playing with.
