    Help... please first timer... spiderbox

    Hi,

I have a spiderbox sd5000 and not sure how to use it:

I connected it all up to my sky dish/router
I then tried to find a signal for the Albanian channels. 16 e

And whilst moving dish, message went to scramble from no signal? and one channel had a no video message.

I could view free channels with the same amount of signal strength.

The dollar sign ones seem unable to pass the scramble stage.

    Does scramble mean anything?

    Thank you so much.

The box worked on someone elses dish yesterday.(picked up those channels)

So could this mean I need a better position?

It is a fixed dish and pointing towards east 16 degrees. (want albanian tv)
I think i will buy a sat finder... I really am trying to get to grips with this.

              Sorry to be a nuisance.

              I under-estimated the whole thing.
Was sold it as a "plug and play" !

a sky dish is a bit small for picking up digitalb and does need to be accurately aligned for it I get the digitalb channels fine on an 85cm dish near Hull.if the dish is well aligned and service+ is registered these boxes are virtually "plug&play". Cheap sat finders will not tell you what satellite you are on only that you have found a sat. frequency 11.639H 27900 will get you the digitalb film channels auto, hit, etc.and a good FTA channel to set up on is TVSH-sat on 12.656 V 4883.check out www.dishpointer.com to get the dish direction/elevation for your locale.but you will still have to hunt for the sat by L/R & up/down movements of the dish.

dish should be ok.....though 80cm would be much better.

but you need to be able to find the sat first. you will need a meter. or you could try fiddling with it from looking at neighbouring sly dishes and moving the dish to the right very slowly. it will be the second sat you pick up from there.

best bet is to get a meter though.

Hiya, got a 80cm dish and was able to find the the direction via dishpointer. Then i moved it slightly, slightly while viewing the tv signal/quality bars. Lots of channels, but some I can hear but not see... I will look into this.

the channels you can hear but not see are encrypted ones.

I figure that means, I would need a different viewing card etc..

One channel is puzzling me though, (Tirana Tv) I should get, but can only hear not see.

                              Thanks.
