I will be ending my subscription to sky soon and I wondered if I will still be able to use my sky+hd box to watch freesat.What other (low cost )options are available.I'm not really bothered about HD or recording programmes

i think u can still use it as loads of these boxes get sold on fleabay

You will be able to receive 'freesat from sky', it is different to freesat, most the channels are the same tho.

not bothered about hd,it will be a big step down to sd boxes,you could look into a box like the vu-uno single tuner and if you wish
record on external hard drive and a cline,have a look at the sat section,plenty other boxes available.

not for encrypted channels like movies or sports

so when I stop paying sky i'll still recieve the free channels without doing anything to the box or card?

yes you even get bbc1 hd itv1 hd chan 4 hd chan5 hd + all the freesat channels....BJ1

Ours is ending on the 12th august, we have a sky hd box and white viewing card, when you stop paying you will have in the region of 80 freesat channels that you thought you were paying for but are actually free. If your now bothered about recording (which will stop working at the end of the contract) i would just keep your money for a while.

so when I stop paying sky i'll still recieve the free channels without doing anything to the box or card?

No access to the plus features tho. You can't even watch recordings from it without sub
