starview hd combo and blade 7000s

hi all, i need some info.

i have decided to go down the sat route and i am giving up my krytview and starview 7.

i have been doing some research and i am going to go with the blade 7000hd

however, i do not have a satellite installed.

i have found someone who can install a satellite for me for ?80 all in so i am happy with that.

the only problem is that i am getting the blade 7000 in 2 weeks

i have a starview hd combo so if i flashed this with the latest firmware could the satelite guy configure my dish and this box and give me freeview from astra 28.2 until i get my blade 7000

then when i get my blade7000hd the dish is already set up and i just swap them over.

if o am using the starview hd combo just as a freeview for the purpose of getting my dish set up does it need to be connected to lan too?

any info would be appreciated because the last thing i want to do is get the wrong type of dish installed and get a guy to come out and put a sky dish up but cannot configure because the starview hd combo is not compatable or does not work

usually sat guy aligns it to astra its the same as sky uses, depending on the lnbs you want to get fitted a single =1
or quad=4 as some boxes use one feed some have 2 feeds for twin tuners and you have the choice to add another tv and box somewhere else,an old sky dish is what people use mainly.
if you have flashed the combo you should get all the freesat channels that are not encrypted even bbc hd,bbc1 hd,itv1 hd.ch4 hd,even if you had the combo+lan and a line you could use that but its an old box blade is newer and better.

on the astra sat all you need to do is an automatic scan.

Thanks for info mate. Gonna get a single lnb coz that's all I need. So for the star view I just flash with latest software and do an automatic scan and I will be able to use on astra 28.2 to get freesat channels. Then when I get my blade 7000 I just swap them over connect the LAN and make arrangments to get all hd channels

i would consider a twin lnb and shotgun cable/twin if you get a box later for twin tuners, easier to think ahead or pay to get it done twice

sorry if i am being such a noob here but the satellie installation guy is asking if i need freesat dish or freeview dish

i want to use the starview hd combo and then the blade 7000s

so which one do i need to tell him as i dont want to get the wrong one

also these are the prices i have been quoted:

Single lnb and single cabling is ?80 with dish and install

Twin lnb and twin cabling is ?40 extra.

is this about right or too expensive?

          i was looking at this:

          http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...T#ht_636wt_754

and though about buying then asking the engineer to install, or should i just pay the ?120 for twin lnb and the engineer supplies everything

the more research i do the more my eyes seam to be open. i am thinking of scrapping the 60cm dish and getting the engineer to install a 80cm motorised dish with twn lnb and cabeling. once this is done then im thinking i will never need to change and get up on the roof again and i have the motor dish for future satellites

any one have any views on this as im looking for some guidance from somebody more knowledgable

i was thinking that, just get it done now and out the way coz i will probably regret it in the future and have to pay for somene else to get on my roof and install another dish

1cm motorised dish installed with twin lnb and twin cable. ?190

?150 for installing the dish and ?40 extra for the twin lnb and twin cable

                is this about right?

The Starview HD Combo supports CS just like the Blade M8, why not try it with the SV first, you may be happy with that and save yourself some cash
