Sky freeview help

Hi all.
I hope someone can help cos im all out of idea's.
I have a standard sky dish and a pace box with a freeview card.
I cancelled my sky subscription about 8 year's ago and the freeview has been fine till a few day's ago.
The basic channel's like bbc1, itv, ch4 are all perfect but channel's like sky news, bbc news, five, e4, film4, keep coming up with, no satellite signal is being received. When i check the signal test, the strength is three quarters full, the quality is nearly on full and the lock indicator is ok. I have checked all the connectors and switched LNB and 22k to off and on in the installers menu but still no change.
I have also done a software update but still no joy.
Can someone please help.

this is a guess mate, but sounds like the card, phone up sky and buy another free to view channel card off them.
I could be wrong as i have no sat experience, but sounds like card to me, thats just my opinion.

Thanks for the reply mate. I will take the box to my brothers house and try it there to see if it works. If not then ill look at getting a card.
Has anyone else had this problem or have any suggestions.

this is what i have to do to keep the chns open
if your useing a freeview card in any other receiver
from time to time the card goes down and needs to
be returned to a official box left on chn 5 overnight
and then it will open the chns again most sat boxes wont
keep the free view card updated some tm models like the tm 3000 models will keep a freeview card updated

I have always had this card with this box. I have never swapped the card or box.
This card was sent free by sky about 5 years ago.
Do you know if the Pace box model no 1.3Z36 will keep a freeview card updated?
I have just put it on chn 105 Five. I hope it does the job.

i have a old pace box and i use that to update the card
i just put the dish on 28e no phone line connected
and leave it on chn 5 and my card updates. you have
done well if you card has kept going down mine needs the
update every couple of months or so. give the update ago first
before you try anything else it can take few hours

If all FTA (BBC, ITV etc) are clear but all FTV (Channel 5, Channel 4 +1 etc) channels are blank then it is the card which has been out of the stream long enough to have skipped the 'stay alive' update.

Any Sky digibox will keep the card alive.

Has the box been in storage or not used for a length of time?

The update can take many hours to hit as Sky cycle the 'stay alive' messages, they are not all broadcast at once.

It could also be that your dish has slipped slightly out of alignment, making some transponders weaker.

Have a look at this list, if all the FTA ones are clear yet the FTV are encrypted then it's the card.

The box has not been in storage. It has been plugged in and working fine.
The one thing i forgot to mention was that the dish and box was moved from our old address to new address in jan 2008 by a private installer. It has been working perfectly till a few days ago.
I have checked through the list you put up.
The only fta channels working are, 101,102,103,118,119,120,131,315,316.
All the rest including ch 998, 999 come up with, no satellite signal is being received.
The working ftv channels are, 104, 135, 180.
I have left it on 105 as benny/9 instructed but dont know how to put the dish on 28e. Do you know?

hi m8,
when i said put the dish on 28e this is astra2
and i was a figure of speech for a motorised
satellite system, if you have the mini dish it will
be set on 28e and your seeing the free to air chns
just leave the box on with the card in it on one of the chn5 chns that need the card to open them

Yes it is a fixed mini sky dish.
I will leave it on ch 105 all night.

channel five is FTA and FTV but on this tp`10773.00 H 22000 2/3` it is viewable without any card.... the FTV version is out there but why use a card for five??? goto add channels and see if there is a new five that should be fta

I had it on Five to let the card update. The problem is not about getting Five. Most of my channels come up with no satellite signal is being recieved.
Have you any idea what is causing this.

have you tried checking if the card opens any of these
channels that need the freeview card to open them

also try leaving it on one of these channels and see
if they open. like i said i'm surprised your card has'nt
gone down more often when useing it in a un official receiver i would leave it on one of the above chns then if nothing happens i would think the card has given up. i can wait upto 7hrs for my card to re charge after it goes down and it's couple of months my card needs putting in the official receiver
