Sky freeview help

most use the freeview card to open chn 4HD and a few other
chns which are still under contract and are not yet free to air.

also try leaving it on one of these channels and see
if they open. like i said i'm surprised your card has'nt
gone down more often when useing it in a un official receiver i would leave it on one of the above chns then if nothing happens i would think the card has given up. i can wait upto 7hrs for my card to re charge after it goes down and it's couple of months my card needs putting in the official receiver

I will leave it on one of the other channels. Hope that does the job.
My reciever is not a unoffical one. I had sky subcription which i cancelled. My card then became a freeview card which im using in the genuine pace box which was supplied by sky.
When your card goes down does it come up with no satellite signal is being received?

hi m8,
we have been at crossed purposes, my card is a freeview card
with the yellow house on it, and i use it in a tm 6900 receiver
mainly for chn4 HD. and i only use the official pace box to charge
the card, but as your useing the official receiver your card should
stay active, it could be a card fault you have, or even a receiver
fault. lets hope the card fires up and works again

My card is with the yellow house on it as well.
I hope it is not my receiver
I will go and connect my box with my card in it at my brothers house in a short while.
I will let you know as soon as i get back.
I hope someone on this site knows the solution to this problem.

I strongly suspect that your dish has slipped ever so slightly out of alignment and you are recieveing some transponders weaker than usual.

Have a look to see if all your broken channels are on the same transponder/s.

Your card realy should have updated by now.

Just got back guys and im glad to say that my dish and wiring must be ok. Good job really cos my dish is on the chimney brest.
I took my box with my card in it and connected it to my brothers dish.
Its the same, no satellite signal is being recieved on the same channels. Its same as it was at my address.
So now, how do i tell if its my box or my card. I did not put my brothers card in my box cos he subscribes to sky and i did not want to mess his system up.
I dont know if to order a sky freesat card, or get a box, or get both. I cant afford to be throwing money about.

I rang sky and they cant find any details on their system cos its a really old card number. The guy said it wont be the card cos i have been using it in the original box and if it was the card it would not come up with, no satellite signal is being recieved.
I will have to buy a new card from freesat. He said there is no point buying one as it wont work if im getting the message, no satellite signal is being recieved. The last thing i want is to get a new card and still have the same problems.

More help please guys.
If a buy a secondhand sky digibox, connect it to my existing dish and not bother with a card, will i get all the freeview channels.
I would rather spend ?20, ?30 on a box than a card cos i only need basic viewing.
What is a good make of sky digibox. I have seen lots on ebay.
I cant think of a better solution than this for my problem.

just dumped sky recently they told me i could still get all the freeveiw channels through the sky box.

i agree phone sky and request a new free to air card i think they went to 07 encryption but i would not rule out a reboot first. or a motorised system and a patched tm box and wait for n3 decription and get lots of channels for didly squat

It cant be the card.. Its the box... Take out the card and the message will remain... The tuner within the receiver has worn out... Buy a receiver like the Technomate 3200.. It will read the freesat card and you will be open to dish upgrades too...

have you tried a forced firmware upgrade?? also have you tried unplugging box from wall and plugging it back in?

i would personally get your brothers box and try it on your feed to rule the possibility that you nlnb could be goosed, water in the coax or dish moved slightly.

I did the forced firmware upgrade twice but no luck. I have also unplugging box from wall and plugging it back in many times. weird thing is that i have nearly full signal and quality, i can,t understand why its not working.
I will try what you said with my brother's box and report back.
