No hard drive installed, you need to buy an external one.

I also assume it must be a mains powered HDD. My 2.5" USB powered one does not work, although I assumed it wouldn't. Need to find a cheap one that will record HD perfectly .

i just put it into a caddy mate, which is mains powered.

as regard to your 2.5 did you format it too fat32 first.

if you go to the blade website you can d/l there hard drive format tool.

No I didnt bother as it didn't even spin.

On that subject. Fat32 cannot use a file over 4gb if I remember correctly. Would it save HD programs in multiple files? Does it handle them well.

It save the videos you record into 4gb .TRP files and it creates multiple files depending on how long your record is. So you could end up with 2 or 3 .trp file on the hard drive for a 2 hour program you recorded. However the box only sees the multiple files as one file and they play well on the box but they can be a bit awkward to play on the PC.

On this topic, has anyone found a good TRP converter yet?? As stated TRP is clever but a bit of a bummer to play, and edit?

There is one literally called "TRP converter", but I was not impressed with the freebie demo.
