I'm in the same boat - previously had SV ... heard about dreambox and blade but am a loss to know which one does what (never even had a dish before, so got to look into that ) .... not really bothered about sports, more for movies - recordable would be good, to save them ... and I heard something about streaming to my laptop, but not sure what this means ... can anyone give any advice ?

dm800hd or openbox hd if you want to record but unlike cable the box and dish are only the start you need a sub google cardshare test lines are free make sure you get a recommended server a lot of crap out there good luck

Yeah, I knew about the sub, but being a previous SV user, they're asking for subs anyway so would have to pay them either way. Dont have a HD television tho, so would I still go for the HD versions, with a view to maybe upgrading to HD TV later ... or wont they work on non-HD TV ? Thanks

HD boxes work fine on non HD TVs just make sure they have a scart out to tv or an rf out as well as HDMI sockets.you will be able to watch the HD channels ok (but obviously not in HD)

Personally i would recommend Dreambox 800hd ?110ish if hd you want if not then Dreambox500 which is sd 50ish and is cheaper.
Another option is the OpenboxS10HD which is alot cheaper ?50 ish but not as much support but all do the same kind of job.
These prices are from China and cheaper than Uk.
Dish depends on if you want static or motorised.

                Andy.

I'm also new to this, I've been recommended to get the spiderbox 9000hd motorised. Is this just as good as the dreambox?

Not got a Spider but ive read its a solid box, depends on how much you want to spend.
There are several boxes out there but with Dreambox theres a bigger forum support.
This doesnt necessary make it the best box but it is very popular and at 110 quid for hd good value,

                        Andy.

Andy there is not much support needed for the spiderbox to be fair, Really good for noob, Where as dreambox is for the likes of a sat fanatic who loves to play with there box's images etc!

                          Regards.

Why don't you have a go at installing your own setup ?500 is a lot of money when you can buy a set up for less than ?200

                              The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.
