    LNB problem?

HI guys I was wondering if you could help me out.

Recently I am having some trouble with my sat system. I have a DB800. On occasions, the signal just goes down to 0% on all satellites. The dish turns when I go from one Sat to another but I only get the message that the dish is turning and the signal remains 0%. Then, as if by magic after some time (or a few hours/days), it all comes back to normal. I tried changing the cable running from the motor to the lnb but it didn't seem to solve anything. Admittedly one of the connectors (the one going into the lnb) was corroded and there looks to be some corrosion even inside the lnb, this mostly due to the face that my installer did not apply any form of waterproofing to this connector!

Would the next logical step be changing the lnb? What is the possibility that there is something wrong in the motor?

    Thanks.

yeah if you have corrosion inside the lnb f-plug socket it will give you problems. best way is replace lnb and waterproof the connection with self amalgamating tape do the ones on the motor as well its a fiddly job (thats why its been missed) but must be done make sure the tape covers the thread of the lnb and down past the plug onto the cable.
if there is no corrosion at the motor end its doubtful its faulty so I"d just do the lnb to start with.

There doesn't seem to be any corrosion on the motor end of the cable. Any suggestions for a good lnb brand/type?

most are fine dont go for a dear one unless you really want to, I"v found cheap ones are just as good for normal use all you need is a universal lnb,any sat dealer will supply one along with the tape, as your motorised put it in central(no skew) and give the tape a good stretch as you wind it round.
