hi everyone, i currently have a 1.1m dish running on a technomate diseq motor, im on the verge of buying a 1.8m and wondering would my motor handle it, the dish weighs about 6-7kgs max(i think) now the motor says it can drive up to a 1.4m or 20kgs max, my question is why cant i use this motor then?? Please can someone with very good exp give me good advice or has anyone ever tried this?

I personally wouldnt try it,the motor might be able to turn it,but as soon as we have any stong winds,it would rip your motor to shreds, the wind resistance on a 1.8 meter dish would be incredible.
use an actuator,It will be expensive to fit but would e better in the long term -
is there no way it can be kept steady by giving it extra support?I personally wouldnt try it,the motor might be able to turn it,but as soon as we have any stong winds,it would rip your motor to shreds, the wind resistance on a 1.8 meter dish would be incredible.

like the others I wouldnt entertain a dish of that size on a diseqc motor you need a 36Volt actuator.what sat/channels are you after?and as asked how are you mounting it,a ground mount is the best way with larger dishes. Its doubtful you will find a 1.8 dish that would fit a technomate diseqc motor anyway.Last edited by dick b; 26 September, 2011, 13:24.Comment

i know a guy who has a 1.8m spun ali dish on a 3 inch pole with 3 very strong k brackets mounted on his house wall but it was installed by professionals and uses a polar mount/jack combo. i wouldnt go above 1.2m with a diseqc motor as heavy winds will rip the entire thing off the wall! if you have to have a 1.8m dish then get it professionally supplied/installed. it will cost a arm and a leg but will give you peace of mind. regards mdtDM800HDSE SIM 2.10.
