    LNB question

Hi guys, i have a little question here,

Does the LNB make a difference is the signal you get from sats, because im thinking of getting a double lnb, and i was wondering if that will improve my signal on hard sats i.e 7e and 4.8e?

    Thanks guys.

no mate,a bigger dish will help with 7E but 4.8E should not be a problem check your alignment.

Right now i got a 90cm living in east london, im getting all the easy sats, 28, 19, 13, but 7 east i cant seem to find the right transponder that work for premier league tv, cant lock on, get like 75 sig, and 95 acc, but wont lock on.

4.8, is the same, i cant get viaset pl channels to lock on?

will a manual scan maybe make a difference?

what transponders are you trying to get?11.727H 27500 on 4.8 East is ok for me if thats what you are after its weaker than other tps on that sat 66%Q as opposed to 94% for 12.380 H but thats because its on the nordic beam should still be ok though but no pic as nds.
7E all the sd channels are fine where I am on a 1mt dish (near Hull) the pl channel on 10.928 V 30000 I cant check til later as its DVB/S2 and I"m not near an HD box at the moment.

I have found that the better the LNB the less chance you have of losing a signal on a weak transponder.

For example, i was fitting a Viasat HD system the other week at a famous non league football ground in the south Manchester area & at first i used a Inverto Twin Premium lnb & wasn't happy with the signal.
I replaced this with a Techmoate Gold .1db LNB & the signal levels went up 15% just by replacing the LNB.
I was much happier with the signal..& touchwood , it's been fine for the last few weeks.

So i would say YES, it CAN make a difference, but that's not to say it will always be the case.

If you can watch MUTV, United reserves play their home games there & you can sometimes see the dish on tv.

Well ive just ordered a techomate gold lnb, lets hope that might sort it out.

Its just weird, because on the 11.727h i can get 75 sig and 94 but it just wont lock on, therefore i cant do a search on that transponder. which is sad

On the unibox 500, using gemini image 4.7, and when searching for channels, it need to lock on, so that when u scan it find channels, if it doesnt lock on, it wont scan?

I'll search that TP and try move the motor to find 11.727.

well i dont get any of them.

The thing is with my set up, is that its on the ground on a pole, is actually not on a roof or anything, so maybe if i put it higher i.e on top of my roof, i could get those sats?

without being able to see your line of sight I cant tell go to Satellite Finder / Dish Pointing Calculator with Google Maps | DishPointer.com and check it out there is nothing wrong with a pole in the garden set up as long as the pole is 100% plumb and the dish 100% central on the motor spigot. if any obstacles are more than twice the distance away from the bottom of the dish as they are high all should be ok.to start with re-align on 1W and use 11.862 H 28000 as your setup transponder,BBC world is on there.

Well my post code is IG2 7rr, so you can see if i do, and maybe give me some help on how to get those sats?

Isit worth lifting the sat on to the roof so i can get maybe a better signal?

I cant identify your house you must do that part yourself,
how far away from your dish is the nearest obstacle and how high is it.do you have a southish facing wall to mount the motor/dish. I"ll look in tomorrow to see how your getting on

when you say "mount it on the roof" what do you mean?your best bet if you dont have line of sight where it is now is to mount it on a southish facing wall with either a good "L"bracket or what I prefer T&K brackets and a short length of scaffold pole.either way a good strong proper mount is essential.
