Fixed Sky Dish with Motor ???

    Hi,

I currently have an openbox s9 running off a old fixed sky dish. This was just to try out sat cs. Now i'am ready to try a motorised setup and possibly upgrade to a better stb.
Any how my question is : Can i use my sky dish and upgrade it with a motor ?
OR Would i be better with a complete NEW motorised setup ?
If the latter which would be the best one to go for ?

    Many Thanks

I"d go for a complete new motorised setup everyone will have a different favorite setup and dish size could depend on where you are and what you want.most advocate a 1mt dish on say either a TM 2300/2600 motor or darkmotor.but where I am I"v found I can get all I want via an 85cm dish.
If your sky dish has an lnb with preset skew it will be no good on a motor even if you could mount it as zero skew is required the skew being automatically applied as the dish leans over.

Yea, I agree with dick, if you're going motorised then get a new dish for the job.. I run an 88cm dish, gets me more than I need.. My advice, if you're going to try a self install, dont buy a disk kit that comes with a supplied wall mount, as chances are the supplied wall mount will be ok for a fixed dish, but cause you a nightmare with setting up a motorised dish.. You want a good sized dish, 80cm to 1m, a motor, and T&K wall brackets and a length of scaffold pole..

        Thanks guys.

        Seen these on fleabay.
80cm MOTORISED SATELLITE DISH KIT + GOLD 0.1db LNB | eBay

TRIAX 110cm SATELLITE MOTORISED TM2300 MOTOR TECHNOMATE | eBay

both seem good vfm but i will read up a liitle then see.
Prob sort the dish setup first and try it out with my openbox, then decide on which stb i'd like.
Will more than likely keep the openbox and sly dish setup on the main tv & set the motorised setup to my PJ.

        thanks again.

kingtj64 mate i was in a similar position a few weeks back,
looking around for a motorised set up.
i already had a box so just wanted the rest of the equipment.

so i decided to do as go around to my local sat shops and basically said to them,
what can you offer me, i want to buy everything today if you look after me i'll buy from you instead of the other shops

I bought a similar one of the internet - but it was a full maxx digital system, i was advised to get everything of the same manufacturer

                i got the following:

                i got 90cm maxx dish + Lnb
                maxx LED motor, ,
maxx digital 30 metres of coax cable,

                for ?79!

i installed everything myself ( with the advise off my friend who had done this before) and because the motor was LED made things a lot easier !!

I got mine from skywonder, they have a website but I called up to order cos you can pay straight away so they deliver it on the same day.
