sorry, comp = computer. connect to computer using a null modem cable, then get the software to re-flash it. You may be better off looking at some of the post on the openbox section on this forum and doin abit of reading on how its done.
If it isn't broke, don't try fixin it..!!!

just googled this. it may help you understand abit more .
Previously we mentioned about the way to flash Dreambox either using Ethernet or Serial RS232 null modem cable, and if you wonder how you can perform the same for Openbox/Skybox/Yumy S9 HD satellite decoder with PVR feature, here are some simple steps that you can follow to get it done.

Typically, Openbox/Hibox/Skybox/Yumy S9 HD is equipped with USB 2.0 host port that users can plug an external USB thumbdrive to perform the upgrade from USB, but this may not always be the case especially when the decoder is stuck at boot-up where users are unable to enter menu or due to defective USB port.

          i. First, get a null modem cable and connect to the RS232 ports of both the PC and decoder.
ii. Then, download the EromUpgrade.exe and launch it.
iii. When comes to main menu, enter the port (Com 1, 2 or etc), bit rate as ***8216;115200***8217;, operate mode as ***8216;Upgrade***8217; and browse to the correct firmware file (.abs or .bin) with a tick on ***8216;Bootloader***8217; box.
iv. With the decoder in Off state, press ***8216;Next***8217; button on the screen and turn On the decoder. Follow the instruction on the screen with progressive bar indicating the percentage of completion.

Once done, you should be able to get a new firmware loaded into decoder and hopefully this will able to help you recovering from any hang issue related to software/firmware.
If it isn't broke, don't try fixin it..!!!

I bought USB Converter 232 Model U232-P9 and a Null cable. Also I ran EromUpgrade.exe and set it to Com4, bits rate 115200, Parity even
(I am running on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, the driver loaded on Com4 and the driver set to bits rate 115200, parity even)
I get a message opening serial port failed. I tried to do it with openbox power off and with power on. Also I made sure the setup in openbox is on, bits rate 115200, parity even same as in PC.
Does anyone has sugestions, I really appreciate it, Thanks

Can you move the post into the openbox section, you will get more help there...
I'l have a read and see if the tool is compatible with win7 or if it only works with xp. In the meantime you could try this link http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...hd-pvr-205700/ But if the box doesn't start i cant see it getting an ip address to connect.

I also tried the Network connection using STBHD_LAN_MM.exe and could not connect.
