installing adli fixed dish

Hi guys a freind of mine has just purchased an aldi satelite system '
he spent all weekend trying to sort it out and said he gave up in the end he has a caravan so unfortunalty i wont be going down to sort it out
i wondered if the box that comes with it is preloaded with freesat sat and transponders or do you have to point it at 28.2 then scan
trying to get some sort of guidence for him

thanks mate just thought it would be easier for hime to set the box for bbc1 and find the sat that way he no's when he's found 28.2

yeah if he connects the box to his sky dish at home he can scan in the channels for 28.2,then as he says when at his caravan turn set top box on with a channel of his choice then he just has to point the dish roughly at 28.2 then move the dish up/down and left/right til he finds it.(if he sets the dish up at home with the mount dead upright(plumb) and locks the elevation when he is on site and providing the dish is dead upright again he may be lucky and find the sat by just left/right movements then fine tune the up/down for max signal.

tell him get a sat meter/finder, i got one for 4 quid off ebay.. alot better then twiddlin dish everywhere, you only need be a few millimeters out and ya picking up nothing or foriegn sats

thanks guys unfortunatly his dish and box are down his van so he wont be setting it up at his house not straight away anyway.
he goes down for the weekend so will be having another go come saturday
he did say it came with signal meter he also said it displayed
snr all the time
he really hasnt a clue when it comes to sattelites
so wanted to give him a few pointers to start with
what should the elevation be of the dish 25 to 30 upright

if you go to this site and pop in a postcode and the 28.2 astra you can drag it to werever his caravan is and it will give you all the details

round about 22 for a fixed dish on 28.2 but he will still have to hunt for it

update guys had to go down to worcester and sorted it in an hour top jolly he's well chuffed

you can also get a compass that has approx where 13 /19.2/28.2 are in relation to south i think i bought mines on ebay its quite a good aid for about 5/10 pounds

Satellite Compass Dish Alignment Pointer Sat Finder Sky | eBay you would put it where the lnb would go move to 28.2 and then move up and down to get the best signal or search for satellite compass in consumer electrics on ebay

this helped me to set up a old sky dish to 28.2 at my caravan
