    Problems with scart to rf modulator

    Ok, a friend of mine who I set up a dm500s for wanted to get sky upstairs. I use my vcr to rf to my distribution box but he didnt have one.

    Anyway, I got this rf modulator box and it worked on the main tv where the dreambox was situated. Went upstairs and tuned in the second tv. Picture came on perfect but NO SOUND, all 4 terrestrial channels are working fine and they are coming up the same cable.

    Now I would of thought it would be a sound setting on the tv but Ive been through it ten times with no luck. It is a sony bravia.

    Now I will be bringing down a little portable I have tomorrow to see if a different tv works.

    But maybe someone can shed some light as to why picture is perfect but no sound....

    Just to clarify, picture and sound is perfect on main tv where dm500s is.

      when you tune to your rf channel make sure the sound system in tuning menu is set to I .......BJ1

          You mean when Im tuning in the second tv, will have to try that.....

          Does it matter what channel the rf modulator, I suppose not because its working on the main tv....

              Make sure the scart leads are pushed fully home and seated squarely in the sockets as this can cause loss of sound if they are skewed.

                  I appreciate any input, but how can that be, downstairs tv is fine and bbc1 bbc2 itv and c4 are coming through to upstairs, and sky channel with picture but no sound. How can the four terrestrial channels be fine when its all coming up the same cable.

                      is it an analogue tv upstairs and digital downstairs?

                          they both have a freeview tuner but there is no freeview in the area so never been tuned......

                              The reason the main 4 channels work is that the RF box is different.
                              First check that the channel your using on your 2nd tv is clear (no background picture or noise when dreambox off).
                              If there is you'll have to adjust rf box then retune 2nd tv. I use channel 23.
                              Also try a different scart lead.
                              Make sure tv channel is set to "BG" for sound in the setting menu. Some tv sets can be changed for every channel.
