    Xtrend/Clarke Tech ET9000

Just got this box today and first impressions are that its amazing.

took about 30 mins - 1hr to set up and get running.
that includes installing an internal HDD, adding catseye`s settings, updates e.t.c

the box has a bit weight about it, and is very well built

it is one of the best boxes currently on the market. and light years ahead of DM as far as driver and linux kernal development go.

i would love to hear your comments on the picture quality on HD AND ALSO SD as i am about to choose a receiver and am looking for the crispest HD picture possible from my choice of 3 and the clearest SD possible especially on Nova Greece SD channels like ANT1, MEGA, ALTER, STAR which is important for my family...and i have to ensure there are no lip synch problems as well....it is between the et9000, vu+ duo and technomate 7102 hd. i would really appreciate your experience...

Any linux box will read 0963 card. Just a case of knowing what you to do.

guys i tried a et9000 and did not think much on picture quality in hd
have a couple of blade 7000s and hd pic is far better on them 1080p

et is very good and well built but as i found out only 1080i
so got refund today and ordered icecrypt stc6000 it states 1080p

i also give vu duo a thought but only 1080i there aswell and you can notice alot of difference from 1080i to 1080p

There are no TV progs that transmit currently or have any plans to transmit in 1080p. I guess the 1080p playback must be for files?

I have the ET9000, very new, but the picture quality seems very good compared to others I have seen.

I've used a blade 7000 and plenty of other non 1080p Hd receivers like s9 openbox, vu+ duo and others, and I can barely make out any differance in HD or SD picture quality between them and the blade which is 1080p. It's more or less all the same in terms of picture qaulity.

What's more important IMO is channel change time and user interface. And while the blade is good. Vu+ duo and I'm also assuming et9000 would be really good.

guys just reading your posts and i noticed a difference alright between blade and clarketech picture so did a few m8s we had both pluged into tv at same time and flicked across would it be the tv thats making the difference ? ie full hd led over hd ready its just we did notice far crisper picture with the blade thought it was having it on 1080p but its maybe just the tv plays 1080p better
                    any thoughts

Can I just say again, that no TV channel currently broadcasts in 1080p. So it is irrelevant if the receiver can process it, because it is not broadcast.

As far as I am aware, and please feel free to correct me.

The ET9000 recording and timeshift facility is very good. It is fairly easy to use - even the wife has got used to it now.

I haven't got a VU Duo or DM8000 or any other twin tuner STB's but I can say the ET 9000 is a cracker. Really easy to setup and use a NAS with for recording. EPG setup good an easy.Loads of support and images. A winner in my opinion.

Got myself a Vu + duo and a CT9000 - identical in picture quality. Blindscan and picture in picture, makes the CT 9000 the better.

I also have the BM7000s but whilst this may be better looking, the Ct9000 has so much more going for it...

Price of blade is good but CT9000 has been dropping...can get for 300 euros, *-) if you shop around
