sure you will get some sats even setting up with the incorrect longitude on thor but it will never work properly on USALS as Manic01 has said and the further you move the dish from thor the worse it will get.
Its easy to correct your error by going to "motor setup"press green button to edit and change the east to west by the L/R direction keys. then send the dish to THOR 0.8W and re-align the motor/dish assembly to get max signal.
If you still cant get all the sats from say 42E to 30W check you have the correct location latitude set on the motor, the mounting pole is 100% plumb and the dish is 100% central on the motor spigot.

Also remember to round your longitude and latitude off to the nearest tenth, for example my longitude is -5.9520?W so rounding this off to the nearest tenth gives me 006.0W

thanks everybody the dish was setup perfect when it was on the front of the house now i have moved it to the back of the garage which is on the side of the house as the other half said that the old man next door was making comments like have you picked up nasa yet () but the problem is when i patched the box before reinstalling it (also factory reset) the longitude went to default which is east i didnt notice when i set it back up il redo it again this weekend thanks wayne

Hi. I must admit that i am a bit confused with this USALS lat and long business. For example mine for London is 00.1 WEST and 51.5 EAST. I got it to work fine from 30 WEST to 45 EAST but as an experiment i used at least 20 different figures for the lat/long setting and the dish still worked ok. I think the motor will stop at a given satellite because it knows the distance between each one. If you look at the motor its got a dial with figures on with 0 being in the middle and then you got 10 - 70 on either side of the 0 to represent WEST and EAST. For example if you send it to 39 EAST the motor will move and stop when it reaches 39 etc. I may be wrong but with USALS the lat/long figures may not matter. I would be interested to know what anyone else thinks about it.

on usals the lat and long do matter, the latitude on the motor is critical but not so much in the stb(you can alter it a lot before anything happens).but altering the longitude setting in the stb box by as little as 0.2 of a degree can have a slight affect move it by 3 degrees even on a strong sat and you will lose it.your lat would be 51.5 North(not east)
It sounds like you were using diseqc 1.2 as its true on that setting lat and long in the stb have no bearing on it.although the correct lat must still be set on the motor.

the dial on the motor will only point to the correct degree number for a given sat if you live on the meridian(0 degrees long) EG:for thor @ 1West if you live on the meridian it would point to 1W but if you live at say 6 degrees West it would point to 5E.though when the pointer on the spigot points to "0" the motor should be pointing to true south no matter what your longitude position.
