    dish help in midlands

    Hi
I have a technomate 5402hd reciever which i use as a fixed installation on 28.2e. my signal is 98% with 92% quality of signal,
My mate owed me a few favours so he got me this motorised setup . Its a technomate motor and triax80cm dish. Problem is that my dish is on the front of the house and the little woman has firmly said NO . If i put my existing sky minidish on the motor will it work? or could i comprimise and get a zone 2 sky dish 60cm? Do i REALLY need an 80cm dish .im right on the edge of fields with no obsticals.

secondly i have an old A750 with an i connector in the loft, are they worth anything?

I'd deffo say you'd be best getting the 80cm up some how if you're going motorised... So your house front is south facing I guess, if you cant mount on the front then could you maybe mount it at back of house on longish length of scaffold that clears the gutter line, or how about at the bottom of the back garden..

you can mount your dish on the rear of your house using t+k brackets with a 2-3 meter length of pole but if doing yourself it is a bit more difficult to do than a straightforward southfacing wall. regards mdt

is the little woman the wife or landlord
if its a neighbour bitching theres nothing wrong with putting a dish that size up and they cant do anything
as im nearly certain ya dont need permission for a dish that size

Once you get the dish up there it wont look that big...My wife expressed her concern about the size of my dish going on the front of the house. Nobody moans about it, and tbh you can have up to a 1mtr dish without anyone having the grounds to compain.

If you have the dish on the front of the house, it sounds like the front faces either east or south. My place faces east and I've recently removed the dish off the front (yes, it is an eyesore) and put it on a pole at the rear. The dish is only there for s_y and it "sees" the satellite over the rooftop.
Before I moved the dish, I checked the maths to make sure it would be visible. Modern british houses have a 36? angle of slope on the roof, so a roof that runs north/south should have 28E about 5? above the ridge. While setting up, I was also able to see 19E, which is higher up (as well as further south), so I'd expect that everything further west of that would be visible, too. At least until you get across to 30?W.

If your house faces south, it might still be possible to see 28E, but you'd need a higher location for the dish and therefore a longer pole. I'd suggest you check the trigonometry yourself before starting on the project

But if you still wanna put it on the front, how about painting the dish a brick colour from a spray rattle can so it blends in a bit better..
