Splitting signal from motorised sat

Understand completly thanks for the help dick b. I still hope rubberduck can explain what would go wrong with this set up as i always want to learn. And the best way to learn is by mistakes.hello mate, I"ve been running 2 boxes with 1 motorised dish for some time via the 2 way splitter route and you will not damage anything.just dont have both boxes on at once.I use this system so I can have the feed to a box I tinker with during the day and the feed to a box in the front room for the evening,I put the splitter in to replace an A/B switch as it avoids having to manually switch it over.as in all these things you have to know what you are doing.
you cant have motor control in two different places with multi outlet lnbs only one outlet can control the motor. If you are concerned fit an A/B manual switch but its a pain having to switch over every time you change rooms and those splitters with dc bypass are a good answer.Comment

TBH ruberduck is only giving advice, and from what and how I take it, the set-up will work OK if and only if 1 box is only ever on at one time. Which is what you said.
But there is a chance that 2 could be on at same time causing a voltage spike and could result in the the frying of the receiver.
As a preference a twin lnb would eliminate this from happening.
Better have a proper setup. For all the time it would take to add a lnb and some cable.
Again its only advice and precautionary.Last edited by Rodbouy; 9 November, 2011, 20:05.Comment

No fair enough all advice greatly appreciated but i just wanted to see if there was any other reason other than the obivous one of a voltage spike from having two recievers on.TBH ruberduck is only giving advice, and from what and how I take it, the set-up will work OK if and only if 1 box is only ever on at one time. i am not a electronics engineer but a meer hobbyist like many here, so i cant give specifics other than i have see lnb and receivers which have been completely bricked by people splitting feeds. maybe things are now more resilient now a days but i have seen this happen my self.Comment
