    Decisions Decisions Decisions

    Hi all...

I'm a noob to these so i'm just about to order my first box but i keep changing my mind on which one so i'm looking for a bit of guidance...

My first choice was a Openbox as I read these were for beginners. Then I read that a Dreambox can be used with xbmc (which I use on my ATV2 every day)

I have been offered a DM800se for about ?150 from Tony a yaoxin which is double what i was going to spend on an openbox. Then i've been reading about Spiderboxes with a gift for around ?145

Can someone shed a bit of light for me then I can get one ordered and start playing?? I don't want to end up getting a dodgy box that dies etc..

    Cheers in advance!

change the lnb to a twin output or quad and have one controlling the motor and the second box as a slave direct from the lnb itself

Hi there brin you could also cut into the feed from the motor and insert a two way dc bypass splitter so you have feeds to both recievers. Then you would be able to control the motor from both boxes BUT NEVER NEVER, put the two boxes on at the same time as the power surge could wreck the motor. Or as said before put in a new twin or quad lnb, but the downside to that is only one reciever would be able to move the dish and the other recievers would be slaves. hope this helps

The dreambox via xbmc is pretty much useless, there is no epg, and basically your watching channels through the web interface of the dm. Although the dreambox is the better box and alot more to tinker with if your into all that.

If you just want a box that is pretty much plug and play, then get the openbox. Although the epg is crap on it. But for ?60 its not bad at all.
