I've been using the spiderbox as a reciever for my greek nova subscription. I did an update of the box (foolishly) with the latest usb patch but now my greek nova card doesn't work. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure what the patch was. I have had it for almost two years. I use it almost exclusively as a receiver for greek nova, but noticed it wasn't reading the internet, So I tried an update. I'm getting the free channels, but my subsciption card, which I paid for is not descrambling.Comment

I dont understand what the internet has to do with descrambling the card
if you have patched it to 15 nov 2011 then all you have to do is turn the networking back on , make sure ethernet says connected , and turn UCAS back on and add the latest HDsoftcam
as for nova , I know they made changes recently so I have no idea if their official card still works in a spiderbox , no matter which patch is used
might be worth asking on the dedicated spiderbox forum about it ( not here )Comment

I cant see anything erasing a card , nothing at all
but if nova have paired cards to boxes or boxkeys then maybe it doesnt work anymore no matter what patch you use
all updates are done through a usb stick , including softcams
search the net and you will find all the info and files you need , not hard to do
softcams are required for UCAS to work
the old gift is now called ethernet so make sure it says CONNECTED below your login id in networking
none of which has anything to do with official nova cards , so best check the main spiderbox sites for nova infoLast edited by ramjet; 19 November, 2011, 12:30.Comment

3: Your total contribution to this forum, bordering on trolling, seems to have been a collection of snipes, one liners & asterisked expletives

seeing as you are so green , my advice is search out dedicated forums to get the info you need , as I dont believe we have one on here yet ( DK is a very good site , just not dedicated to spiders )
so let me say this
to use a card in the CA slot , no you dont need the internet
to use UCAS and softcams , no you dont need the internet
to use C/S , YES you need the internet and c or n lines
to use the spiderbox gift channels instead of the cards or UCAS , YES you need the internet in order to connect to the spiderbox dedicated gift srvr , called ethernet now
that gift service used to have nova working last year , but in the last few months since the karen murphy case nova made changes that more or less killed that service on a spiderbox
what I cannot tell you is if your official subbed card will still update and work or not , that is for you to determine yourself , as I do not own a nova card , I can tell you a sly card works in the CA slot , like say a freesat white card using 28 east
they have the odd channels like nova sports 1 on test on hotbird using the ethernet gift over the net , but most people use other footy channels instead , including me
hope that helpsComment

just read on the main forum that deals with spiders in their nova section that many subbed nova cards were turned off and anyone subscribing should contact their supplier
so be worthwhile getting the card tested in other boxes and also contacting the card supplier , as it may have nothing to do with your spiderbox , just coincidence ?Comment

Hi all, i face a problem since last week. I have the pvr nova card and when i share it to my 3 receivers(a spiderbox server + 2 other), after a short time it blocks me. I called nova and they unblock my card because they have sent an update and it blocked it. The other problem is that the port i have set on spider server , blocks after a few hours and it remains blocked. Does spiderbox have a default port that uses the gift? i'm despered with that receiver. any suggestions?
Thank you in advance.Comment
