    motorized satellite dish mounting

Hi all i'm setting a 1m dish up. Does the dish have to be at the top of the pole?
I was thinking of mounting it between the two pole brackets (think it will make it stronger)

Nope, it dont have to be, mount it in between the brackets if you prefer... (sounds like your mounting on a good pole & T&K brackets, good job, best way)

Yeah that should be fine if you have a south facing wall. Only problem would be the size of the dish if it was too big it might be restricted to what you can recieve on either end of the arc. What i mean by this is if you selected 42 east for example the dish would pan to one side and might hit off the wall. Im not saying it will but just look out for this before setting all up.

If this is the case don't forget to set the limits on your motor so it can't turn into the wall, you can find out how to do this in the instructions supplied with the motor.

            No limits
I can scan as much as the motor will go both ways.
I think i need a new pole tho!
When testing the pole with a spirit level and a johnson angle locator. The pole is perfect straight all the way around but on one side its out by about 3 degrees?
How can it be bent only on 1 side
            Done a quick scan
Thor i need 25x5 steps west on the motor and get 704 ch
Hotbird i need 10x5 steps west and get 1507 ch
            19.2e Astra 1 i need 5x5 step east and get 986 ch
            23.5e Astra 3a3b i need 11x5 steps east and get 215 ch
28.2e Astra i need 3x5 steps west and get 843 ch

Not wishing to play "my dish is bigger than your dish games", but I'd expect to pull in over 1000 channels from 28E (ordinary, zone 1 dish (45cm), SE England BTW)

use a short length of scaffold pole not thinwall stuff they sometimes sell as suitable.if your mounting between the T&Ks a 2 foot length is long enough.get the motor/dish accurately aligned on 0.8West(or any sat of your choosing) then using usals all the other sats will fall into place
