    Wall Mount for Triax 78cm

    Hi Guys

    I'm putting a Triax TD78 (78cm) up with a Dark Motor Led which will be hooked into a Spiderbox 9900 (if your curious).
    My question is what size wall mount I need, I would like to keep it as close to the wall as possible, is a 250mm bracket too short?
    Bracket type like the image below.

    cheers

    get yourself a set of t+k brackets, 12 or 18 inch stand-off and a short piece of scaffold pole. L brackets are ok for a fixed dish and can be used for a motorised dish but they can be difficult to get 100% plumb. go on e*** and you can get what you need for between ?20-?25 inc p+p. regards mdt

      agreed , definitely get T-K brackets and a piece of scaffold pole , you cannopt beat it for strength and durability

      the L brackets are nowhere near as good for this task , especially with the weight and movement

        Thanks for the info, so 250mm away from the wall isn't enough. I've gotta be honest I won't be able to fit the dish onto a pole, the L brackets are easier for me.

          basically , you half the size of the dish ( the radius ) and you want at least that much clearance to stop the dish hitting the wall at right angles

          you can set limits to prevent this problem , but having the right standoff means it can never happen , and so no damage can occur

          250mm = 25 cm and a 80cm dish = 40cm radius , you do the maths

          so the T-K bracket at 18 inches would do it on the basis that a metree is over a yard , ie = 39 inches approx , so if we assume an 80cm is say 32 inches then half would be 16 inches , making an 18 inch T-K pair of brackets idea , and 24 inch brackets for a 110cm dish like mine

          the point here is if you are going to do the job , do it properly , and when you ask questions take heed of those who have done it already , and their answers

          a 25cm standoff bracket is suitable for a 49cm dish , or less , that is a fact

          and if you can fit a standoff L bracket , there is no reason why you cannot fit T-K brackets and a scaffold pole

            as said T&Ks are best if you have a south facing wall with a pair of 12" T&Ks you will get from 42E to 30W no problem with an 80cm dish on a motor. see pic for how I"v mounted an 85cm dish on 12" T&Ks(actual standoff 10") If you must use the "L" bracket you may have to shim it to get it dead plumb but I used one like that with a motor successfully for some years so try it if you want its all experience.
