Can anyone help? My parents cancelled their sky subscription the other day and I took the sky hd box and card with me and plugged into my house and it didnt pick up channels. I did a reboot by holding back up removing the power and plugging it back in whilst holding back up and it picked up all the channels he is subscribed to. Not it won't work again and I've tried the same thing. His account is still active though. Any suggestions?

Its your set up, as stb will pick up channels subscribed or not unless the tuner/power supply is gone. -

sounds like the f connector or cable is suspect , as it should pick up all fta channels like bbc and itv with no card whatsoever
ps:- just a thought , but its probably a sky plus HD box and requires 2 feeds into it
either give it both feeds from your dish , or go into the menus and change it to a single tuner box if you only have the one dish feedLast edited by ramjet; 27 November, 2011, 12:03.Comment

It seems to be picking up some fta channels like news etc. I was just wondering why it's not picking up any of the sports or movies etc that my father was subscribed to. It was working Friday night when I rebooted it. Wasn't working before that.Comment

make sure the card is inserted and you get your local channels on bbc1 and itv , otherwise it will get london channels
as for the scrambled channels , you wont decode any if they have turned the card offComment

I have a dreambox 500s that I bought the other day but as yet have been unable to figure it out. I ordered a null modem cable to flash the box but it hasn't arrived yet. I'm lostComment

well its definitely not easy so you will be lost
but if and when you flash the box and successfully install cccam or oscam you can read the card entitlements using the cccam info plugin or by accessing oscam through the web interface
probably all mush to you , but you did ask
my opinion is that if you try bbc itv and c4 (fta channels) and they are ok , try pick tv and channel 5 , 5usa and 5* (ftv channels)
if they are all ok try sly1 , gold , living , then music , then kids , then documentaries , then sports and movies
any that dont work have been turned off , its that simple
ie:- if fta work and ftv work , but not scrambled channels , its been turned offComment

Cheers man! Very much appreciated. I'm in Dublin here and I spent 80 quid on the box hoping to save money in the end but so far it's still boxed. Gemini image is on it but I dont think ccam is. I was going to flash nobilsat image or something. I used to have a dbox 2 when they were going and was able to set that up via network cable but now nadaComment

I would assume you can add cccam as a plugin and then install cccam info as another plugin , and once thats done if it reads the card you can check the entitlements
you may have to do this no matter which dm image you use
suggest you look for dreambox help in the dreambox forum , but my previous reply will tell you if that card is working ok just by checking bbc1 , itv , channel 4 , then channel 5 , 5* and 5usa , assuming they work on an irish subscription ( they may not work )
certainly if you dont get sly1 eire or living tv eire the card has been switched off by sky , and may only have about 8 entitlements on it

If I get a card that's active and slot it into my dreambox 500s will it read it and gove me all the channels that are subscribed to on that card. I ask because my sister pays for all the sly channels and I was wondering if I borrowed a card from her would it work?
