Talk about wanting a cushy life.. it takes about 5 minutes to put an LNB on a dish. Or better still instead of all this dual and quadruple LNB business why not buy a motor ?? Take care.

          LOL

I have a motorised dish , but it takes a bit of ladder work to get up there and balance a double set on a wet and slippy garage roof to get it done , when there is a perfectly good inverto standard silver dual working fine , so thanks but no thanks m8

and I have a few other dishes with lnb racks and single , dual and quad lnb,s also running fine

but my answer to him was correct

best wishes anyway , but sack it until it gets a tad warmer and drier , and no blowing a gale either as it howls through where my motor is

Hi. I agree with you that your answer was correct. I was just fascinated to know why some people buy dual LNB's, quad LNB's etc instead of a motor. Take care.

suppose it depends on the setup , and it could be they have a motor , like I do , with one on it

in my case one feed goes to the motor and a spiderbox to control it ( currently a motek but will change to a darkmotor next year )

the second feed from my inverto goes to an 8 way diseqc switch , which has access to several lnb feeds like astra 1 , astra 2 and hotbird , as well as 5e and 30w , so the 6th feed is from the motor meaning it can go to any satellite and the second box can access it using the 6th feed via the 8 way switch , should it be required for football etc

but all that is too complicated compared to the original post , but I would say its best not to assume you know how a person is setup until you see their rigs , as my lnb rack on a fixed dish has 3 quads and a single at the moment , feeding diseqc switches , with a zone 2 dish on 30w carrying a sly plus quad lnb for a fixed hispasat set of feeds to those switches , and I may re-use my current twin inverto on the lnb rack , possibly on 16e ( when the weather improves or more likely next year , )

                  regards

if this is all off a fixed sly dish all you need is a sly plus quad lnb , you dont need the inverto , that is for more specialised setups , and it may need a special bracket to go on your sly dish if thats where you are putting it

so for a sly dish use a sly plus lnb with legacy bracket if required

first park the dish on thor

you may be able to just unscrew the lnb clamp , remove the old lnb , disconnect the f connectors , screw to new lnb , place in lnb holder about midpoint on the clamp area , and tighten up , job done

I would check signal and quality on bbc world news on thor for this beforehand, then power off the receiver , change lnb , power on receiver and check signal and quality again , with possible minor adjustments until its the best quality you can get , then tighten up fully and check other satellites
