    could someone explain the difference...

Well I am a bit thick on this things but I slowly learn from all of you.......I would like to watch a channel that is encrypted to viaccess. Sometime on liveonsat i can see that a channel is on viaccess 4.0 (al jazeera sports for example) and other are viaccess 3.0 or even viaccess 2.5...(for example C+ france).
So what is possible to open? I do use a diablo cam on my technomate5400 and some channel autoupdate the keys.... Am I right to think that 4.0 isn t possible to open but a lower number is? How can I find a key for viaccess 2.5? I would like to open raiafrica on 9east eurobird if possible.
I hope I am not breaking any rules, if this is the case please remove my post. Many thanks for your time

Hi. I have a TM5400 SUPER but no diablo - dont know how they work. Basically the difference between say VIACESS 2.5 and 4 is that the higher number represents an advance in encryption methods thus making it harder or impossible to hack. A couple of years ago there were many encryptions which had been hacked and were available to everyone. For another example when NAGRAVISION 2 was used by many providers this was also easily hacked and made available. Now the providers like SKY use NAGRA 3 (or NDS) which have been impossible to break into. With your TM5400 you should be able to watch the French TNTSAT and CANALSAT channels (which use VIACCESS encryption) on ASTRA at 19 EAST. You also have on the same satellite a number of packages like CANAAL DIGITAL, AUSTRIASAT, ORF SAT available to your receiver. On satellite HELLAS sat at 39 EAST you should also be able to watch the BULSAT channels. With these packages available you can watch live ITALIAN, ENGLISH PREMIER etc etc football plus documentaries, music, adult films etc etc. If you require further info let us know- there is always someone on this forum who knows something about anything.. Regards.

Thanks for your reply, yes I can watch those channels with no problem at all, the point that I was trying to understand if it is possible to watch some channels on the older encryption that are not very popular. for example I would like to open RAI Africa on 9east and I have seen that the channel is on viaccess2.5 . Sorry my question sound a bit strange.....

Yes mate I know that, sometime ictimia on hotbird goes dead during footballand they only keep the channel up on 42e but unfortunately this last transponder is a bit weak for my dish(only1m).....I must say that I am saving up my pennies towards a protek receiver or going down the root of a dreambox....Anyway thanks for your help, and have a nice sunday

This website keeps an updated list on what's available via softcam keys. It doesn't list the rai channels your require unfortunately.
