    Motorised question

Have a standard dish set to 28.2. This is maybe a daft question but i wish i had bought a motorised one instead but my question is, is there something you can add on to normal dish so i can get the other sats or do i just need to install a motorised dish ?

Hi pl1976. I would always recommend a motor but it also depends on what receiver, dish you have and what are you looking for. If you are stuck on 28 east at the moment you probably need a motor to get the good stuff. Before considering buying a motor make sure you know how your receiver works with regards to setting up a motor ie does your receiver have USALS and DISEQC capabilities etc. Like i said it all depends on what you want to watch. Regards.

Hi. Sorry i thought you only had a dish with one LNB. What do you use your quad LNB for?? If you put a motor on then your quad wont be needed. This is because the motor will move the dish to a sat for you automatically. The way it works with a motor is that you put the motor on your wall mounting where your dish is now. Then you put your dish on the motor tail where it will get a piggy back ride to the sats. Regards.

Hi. Am i right in thinking you have one LNB where you can have 4 cables coming out of it (although you only have two cables) . The two cables are connected to two separate receivers in your house where you watch the same satellite. If you put a motor you will still only be able to watch one satellite at a time on both receivers. If you want a different sat on one receiver you will need a separate dish and LNB. Also not being familiar with your receiver type you will need to find out in this forum what channels are opened for the box. As you have USALS capabilities it should not be a problem setting up a motor but make sure that you have a clear line of sight to the satellites . Regards.

you need to leave the sky dish with its quad lnb fixed on sky at astra2 at 28.2e where its pointing now , that is all it is any good for in reality and is fine for sky or freesat

then get a motorised dish of between 80cm and 110cm with a single or dual lnb on it , as a motorised system to obtain the other satellites and channels

as ramjet has said leave the sky dish alone and install a seperate motorised dish. but they dont "just clip on" and need precise alignment although its easy enough if you take care.have a read of the guide in the stickies.

Just as a side note you can motorise the sky dish if you so wish but it will limit you to a few of the many satellites available, I only mention this as the OP could have planning regulations in place, Listed building and so on.

But as has been mentioned a separate say 80cm - 100cm will give you far more channels than a standard sky dish can the choice is yours really.
