    Spiderbox 5000SD Chin Rubber

Ok guys and gals here's a chin rubber for anyone who likes a problem.
I currently own two STBs a Technomate 5400 CI + USB and a Spiderbox 5000SD I've been using the Spiderbox to watch the JSC sports channels 1 to 10 on Hotbird 13E.
Recently I've "lost" the transponder 11.296 H 27500 on my Spiderbox, it's showing up as dead. However on my Technomate it's 86% Strength and 86% Quality so I'm inclined to believe that my dish has not moved in the recent winds.
I'm fast running out of ideas as the Spiderbox is fine apart from this so if anyone has any thoughts I'd be happy to listen.
    Thanks

seems ok on my 9000 with good signal and quality

ensure that the spiderbox lnb is set to universal
also check connections are ok in case a f connector or the cable is faulty
check you havent got too many transponders or channels in the box, delete any useless ones to reduce both, then rescan the transponder

Hi Ramjet, thanks for the advice however I've already checked for loose connections, checked the setup settings in menu and even done a complete factory reset and tried rescanning just Hotbird only to eliminate the chances of my channel/transponder quota being full. I'm currently running Darkmans 2.30 patch and I've had the JSC channels working the other day but the signal strength has been intermitent over the past week which with the current weather conditions I've been putting it down to that.

I'm going to take the Spiderbox to my fathers later on this evening he has a 1 meter dish that can be manually swung onto various satellites. 1 meter should easily pull Hotbird through and I'll see what happens and should it pull transponder 11.296 through then maybe my lnb outside does need tweaking slightly. But why should the Technomate have no problem with this transponder but the Spiderbox does?

      Strange

can only assume its due to different tuners acting differently , maybe its a 22khz tone issue , chances are its the lnb

definitely test on 1 metre dish as that is what I did earlier for you on mine , if its ok on his change the lnb for an inverto ultrablack

Hi again Ramjet, sorry it's taken me a while to reply I took my Spiderbox down to my fathers and connected it to his dish as planned and sure enough it scanned transponder 11.296 no problem 96% strength 85% quality as you would expect of a 1 meter dish.

I reconnected it to my dish the following morning and the transponder was there this time allowing me to enjoy the JSC channels. But by evening it had disappeared once again. So as a last resort I edited the transponder to 11.300, H, 27500 and I've had no problems since.

I should have mentioned that the dish I'm using is a round ex sky, mesh 60cm type with a homebrew twin lnb arrangement aimed at 13e and 19e mounted on it. So I will agree that the lnb may be causing problems as it's set slightly offset so some transponders will drop off.

          Other explanations could be:-

Water ingress on the short piece of cable exposed to the elements outside, possibly around the lnbs F connector.
The dish has moved in the recent winds.
The lnb has been shook loose in the 40mm pipe clip holder on the lnb arrangement by the recent winds.

Either way I've managed a work around for now until the weather improves and I can go out with a ladder and inspect my dish more closely.

Thanks for your replies and advice always good to bounce ideas off other people in the know.
