Extra LNBs on a Sky dish?

I have a motorised set up and my pal is keen to access a few more sats after seeing mine in action. Problem is his Mrs isn't too keen on a big dish. Is it possible to add extra LNBs to a normal sky dish to pick up a few more? 13e, 19.2e are the main ones he wants

    in a word , no

the real answer is , not really

but it can be done , depending on the size of dish and your location

for instance , I have done it in england using the 59cm zone 2 sly dish used in scotland , mainly because you want as big a dish as possible , even more so for multiple lnb,s like your m8 wants

so to do this , I had to make my own extension arm to lengthen the lnb arm a few inches , fit an lnb rack , and with that you can get 28e , 19e and 13e quite easily , with some tweaking and fiddling around

no you cannot do this with the standard size 39cm minidish however ( the one they usually fit ) , and obviously for scotland and N.I. its already a 60cm dish so you need to get an 80cm for those areas ( whatever the size now , it has to be bigger to do the job you are asking for )

ideally you get an 80cm to 110cm dish to do the job , even if it means replacing the current dish , or add a second dish with astra and hotbird on it

another and better method is to get the specialised 55cm dish made by wave frontier , the Wave Frontier 55cm Toroidal Multi Feed Satellite Dish with wall bracket and mount that instead of the current one ( or as well as the current one )

so there are options , but probably NOT with his current dish

Thanks for that post! It's a Zone 2 dish in Scotland for what it is worth.

well the rule is usually say 40% to 50% bigger with a longer adjustable arm too

given it is already 60cm then apart from the wave frontier dishes ( there are at least 2 sizes of wave frontier ) , your pal needs to change to a dish of say 80cm to 90cm which would be standard for a multi lnb system

so he would be better obtaining something like a triax td88 and triax multi lnb arm , sticking the prime focus on astra 19e and having lnb.s for 13e and 28e , with a sly quad on 28e and single , twins or quads on the other two

Not sure if you can link to other forums here but a guy called ghostleader does quite a lot of multi lnb set up in Scotland and I'm sure he has done one on a sky zone 2 with photographs. He used inverto multiconnect slim lnbs.

Has your friend thought of getting a motor for the zone 2?
