I would really appreciate your advice on which receiver i should update to from my technomate 7102HD...i am looking for the very best picture quality on both HD and SD channels as well as no lip synch issues and the best specs and fastest etc...i know the ultimo hasn't been tested yet but i am hoping to hear from members who really know about the two receivers. Incidentally, how much should i expect for my 7102HD as it is only 6 weeks old. Thanks...
HELP! XTREND ET-9200 OR VU+ ULTIMO?

The Duo and ET9200 are both very very nice receivers, although the ET slightly pips the Duo for me.
the xtrend has slightly better specs, more flash memory and more ram, both tuners on the xtrend are hardware blindscan capable where the Duo is not capable of blindscan. however there is a small issue where the second tuner or tuner b on the xtrend can not tune to channels with a sr value of 30,000 but thats not so much of a issue for almost every one i know.
support wise there both covered very well by a number of good teams although i favor vix but thats hardly surprising as i am a member of the vix team.
both boxes run the newest linux 3.x.x kernels fine although the duo is still testing these kernels but it wont be long till there out of testing.
personally i own both a Duo and a Uno and there fantastic boxes, but if i were in the market for another it would be the xtrend.
if you do want to buy either of these i'd recommend you go through world-of-satellite. his after sales support is second to none in this country and he will always go out of his way to help where he can. also he will nock a fiver off the list price for ant one that buys a box off him and pm's him on the support forum.Last edited by RuberDuck; 18 December, 2011, 13:10. -
hi the vu duo seems to get the best remarks on here what is wrong with the tm as you have not had it long i was thinking of one for the twin tuner fuction but might think again as for price there is one on ebay for 299 with no bids in itI would really appreciate your advice on which receiver i should update to from my technomate 7102HD...i am looking for the very best picture quality on both HD and SD channels as well as no lip synch issues and the best specs and fastest etc...i know the ultimo hasn't been tested yet but i am hoping to hear from members who really know about the two receivers. Hi Potrobber...i am only selling my technomate because i watch a lot of the foreign channels and it would be nice to have the greek epg. apart from that its the best receiver i've ever owned and the only1 with internet radio, adult clips 'gift' and you tube that is non linux ive enjoyed using. i'm going to advertise at ?290 plus postage...rubberduck/potrobber i really would like to know your thoughts on which you would go for out of the et9200 or the ultimo due to be released? as i said i'm looking for the best HD and SD picture quality and the best images/epg's available and without any lip synch issues like some machines have had out there...Comment

neither the duo nor the et9200 suffer lip sync problems and as there both running the enigma 2 system their epg's can be setup exactly the same making there no comparison in that department. as for hd and sd picture quality, again there is almost nothing in it. as for the ultimo ive had a brief look at one but not enough to comment onComment

hi the ultimo should be one of the best boxs but you are better waiting to see other peoples thoughts on it after a few months use the xtrend is a good box and at 350 is priced well i had a 9000 and never had any problems with it other than picture quality i thought was not as good as a blade 7000
also seen in a add for the ultimo that it has one fixed tuner and 2 tuner slots so maybe you have to buy second tuner on top of the 529 price tag which is a lot for any receiver
as rubberduck has said the xtrend 9200 would be the one he would go for and having 1080p the same as the blade so i might also have a look at one myself but im holding out till the end of january to see what the ultimo performs like in the hands of others before spending my hard earned moneyComment

thanks potrobber for your help, do you think if i opt for the et9200 the picture quality would be great as that is really something that is important to me otherwise i will wait until the ultimo is available...Comment

i would think the picture would be good on the 9200 being able to do 1080p even tho broadcasts are 1080i
i dont know why on the 9000 it was not as good as a blade7000 i have but there was a noticable difference between the two maybe thats why they have added 1080p to the et9200
it might be to do with our main tv aswell being full hd rather than hd ready as when tested in bedroom on hd ready there was not much difference between the two so for me i think 1080 p is a must as its not good having a box at 150 with better picture than one at 300Comment

if you were me...would you buy the et9200 or wait for the ultimo? it would help make up my mind to hear your opinions...Comment

They have not added 1080p to the 9200 over the 9000 as both are capable of 1080p as they both use identical hardware the only difference between the 9000 and 9200 is slightly upgraded capacitors and newer revisions of the tuners apart from that they are identical.
the 9200 also is not 1080p straight out of the box its 1080i same as the 9000 for the 1080p capability you need to install the autoresolution plugin which will then give you various options for 1080p playback exactly the same as if you installed it on the 9000 or any other E2 linux reciever.
