      Hi,

Thanks for all the replies. I was on the dishpointer website today trying to work out what satellites I would have access to, I think I can just about get Thor 0.8w but to do it the dish is going to have to be pointing parallel to the wall that it is mounted on. If I were to get a 1m dish this would require a bracket to come out a bit from the wall.

I was looking at something like this:
24" T&K WALL BRACKET GALVANISED STEEL HEAVY DUTY MOUNT | eBay

Hopefully I can post a link!

is this the sort of bracket I should be looking at?

Sorry to bump an old thread, but thought that it was better to continue with this one than start a new one.

I've just got a new house - therefore don't want to piss off the neighbours - with a 60cm dish on it.
I was thinking of motorising this dish, but have a few queries -

          * What satellites would I potentially pick up with a 60cm dish (Location: Mid Wales)?

The types of things that I?m looking to pick up is Discovery / History type channels, UK Horse Racing, occasional EPL / Champions League (with or without English commentary), decent boxing and ?Sky Indie? type movies.

          * If I decide to upgrade from a 60cm to a 80cm dish later, is it easy to do that upgrade (i.e. new brackets etc needed)?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

all the answers are already in the thread as its no different for you

dishpointer will tell you what you need to know about satellites

but frankly you are better to start as you mean to go on with an 80cm or larger motorised dish and leave a sly dish doing what it does best - sly

getting channels is one thing- decoding them is something else entirely and usually involves banned subjects

              Thanks for the reply.
I should have said that I have already been on dishpointer to see what satellites I can get from my location and another website (can't remember which one now) to show what satellites I should be able to get depending on the dish size.

I suppose what I was asking was whether it was possible to get the types of channels that I was hoping to get with a 60cm motorised setup?

From that do I take it that I am only likely to get the channels that I'm looking for (and I'm not just concentrating on EPL) through illegal means?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

I would say you wont get them through any "legal" means unless you buy or rent a legal subscription card, which was kind of my point

too many people will say what they want to view, but what you want and what you may actually see or view is dependent on many factors and usually people want what they cant have for little or no money your wants are no different from what I saw

lyngsat and kingofsat and flysat have those satellite details you require, as well as dishpointer

I would also say that a 60cm dish is unlikely to give you all of those "wants" as has been fully explained to others in this thread
it also clearly states that it is a more difficult (but not impossible) task to motorise a standard sly dish as they are meant as fixed dishes
