    new hd box

Am looking to treat myself tomorrow with a new hd box.. now its xmas as you may have noticed, and funds are a bit tight due to having 2 kids of my own and numerous other brats in the family.. but hey, i'm not here to talk about my problems.. So i was going to go and buy an openbox, I've already got a dm so server ability isn't required, just want a cheap and cheerful hd client box. Now as i say, was going to go for the openbox.. BUT came across the Eaglebox hd for ?90 and it looks damn sexy for the price. Has anybody got one? which should i buy for my first dip into closed source waters?

If your going to pay ?90 ish I stick another ?15 in and get a clone dm800 pro.

You could pay 60 ish for a openbox, but what more are you getting for the extra cash?

if you dont care about the epg and want to watch HD tv,
then i dont see why you shouldn't get the openbox,
but i agree the eaglebox hd does look good,
there's two versions of the eaglebox hd,
i'd say go for the one that has the most support, because theres not that much price difference really

          eaglebox mini hd
          EagleBox MINI HD PVR 1CA

          eaglebox 800hd
          EgleBox 800 HD PVR 1CA

hopefully someone whos had experience with these boxes might be able to clarify which ones better to be honest.

if you cannot afford a blade bm7000s get the full eagle800HD box as it can only improve and definitely wont be a clone ( neither box will be but an openbox may )

well i want something similar to the blade 7000hd but i want a twin tuner, coz currently the channels have to be on the same tuner so that i can record and watch different channel at sametime which is never the case

i wouldnt recommend the openbox. i bought a openbox s11 3 weeks ago, it had to be replaced 3 times, due to constant rebooting and total power failure. like som1 mentioned above, the epg is crappp, its non existance. still got some problem with this, cos it takes forever to boot up and other minor problem.

but the supplier has been good, its just the box has been built very poorly by the manufacturer.

in terms of hardware stability, i would say the kryptview is more stable than this openbox s11, and we all know how much stick the krypt has been taking

my suggestion would be, spend alittle xtra and get a blade, its the best all round box for me, had it for a year now, just been excellent.

                          i stick by my coments

my s11 is confirmed genuine and its still crapp, so i wouldnt recommend the openbox to any1.

i have s9 & s10, easy to set up, never had a problem, the s9 is on 16 hours a day and has been for 6 month.. epg is crap on slyuk but fine on other sats, just now and next so i have a tv guide on laptop desktop, used ccam, softcam, constant.cw mgcamd all spot on, 60 quid hd.. can't knock um at that price, s11's i read are having problems, people uploading s9 and s10 f/w to them, and dodgey channel list could be the reasons...
I can't compare them with the other boxes as i haven't had either of them, but the openbox does what it says on the tin
If it isn't broke, don't try fixin it..!!!

just had a play with an eagleHD box , seems a good box , be better when the menus and channel editing improve , no pip when channel editing by remote which is a shame , epg is now and next , hostname , name and pass are not shown so hard to check if you have put it in correctly in the server details , but cccam works ok , card goes in upside down too

                              multimedia and weather work well

would rather have one of these than the openbox , but the blade has better menus , easier to sort channel lists , has bladestream , displays server details and better epg download system , so I would add more money and get the blade , but the eagle should do the job admirably and is getting better by the week as they improve things
