    diseqc 1.2

    Hi
Have TM5402 HD, for reasons I had to use diseqc 1.2 I got all channels on 1w to start with. I go to next sat 28.2 got signal quality over 90% but when I scan I get 13e, actually most sats I scan I get 13e even though I never selected 13e from the sats list? any idea what is wrong here?

Dont you have to first manually drive the dish to the satellite, and then store that position for that satellite, with Diseqc Im sure you cant just select the satellite and expect it to move to it without having the position already stored, it wont know where it is.. Unless you use USALS, why dont you use USALS?

Stick you log and lat in you box and set motor type for all sats as USALS, it the best way...

I already did that, selected sat. 28.2 pressed move and fine to get highest quality signal and saved. When I do scan I get 13e channels. Same issue when I select 4.8e it scans 4.8e but get me 13e channels
I can't use usals because when the dish was setup wrong values for long. & lat. were used.

You will need to make sure you are exactly on the tp you think you are scanning, this is the issue.
Usals is the only way, set up correct on usals and all else will fall into place.

You mean when selecting sat then from the tp list select a tp that has a channel on this sat i.e active transponder?

This is not working for me, I selected 23.5e sat and from the tp drop down list I selected 11915H 27500 3/4 as it is the strongest transponder according to the sticky saved changes but when I did a scan I got 4.8e channels
what is wrong I am doing here?

whats wrong mate is your not on the sat you think you are. as manic says unless you are sure of what you are doing on diseqc1.2 setup on usals, try this guide for your std TM box and once set up if you input the same lat/long into your other boxes they will all work on that dish/motor.
its simple to correct the long/lat values if they were incorrectly set up at install.just make sure your location latitude is set correctly on the side of the motor before you start.

Thanks guys for your help, when the dish was setup it was done with wrong lat & long and I can't reach the dish too high to realign so I used diseqc 1.2 and slowly starting from 42e downward to 1w I managed to get all east sats and starting with west sats now and adding sats that are not in the list of sats in the box but when I add a sat there is no option to add a transponder so I can't scan the sat I am adding. Any idea how to fix this?

you can still set up usals if you want as the longitude is only set in the box its just a case of finding the longitude setting that gives you max signal regardless of wether its exactly correct. and the latitude on the motor cant be far out if you track from 42E to 1W ok. what Western sats are you after as thereis not much worth bothering with on that side.youcan add transponders easily in the TM menu>installation>advanced search>green button "add TP"

PS its always best to get the dish (if you can)in an accessable position as it may need slight attention from time to time.IF you download the guide I sent if will give you an understanding of how it all works.

Thank you, sorted TP I will look into usals after finishing scanning all sats I want with diseqc 1.2

I am looking to get 30W and 7.3W from west sats. but 7.3w is not in the list of sats and to add a sat I have to select a sat starts with 0E and once I select it the motor moves to 0E and when I try to edit it I can't remove 0E but only append to 0E, can you see what is wrong I am doing?

the easy way to do this is menu>sat setup>ok>ok>scroll to 7W nilesat(that should be in the data base)then yellow button"save"and make sure atick is against it then exit>exit>motorised settings scroll to 7W drop to sat degrees>and alter to 007.3W and exit.and yes to settings have been changed. job done.if you want to use an empty slot do it the same way just put the sat degrees in on the 00--- slot(pressing ok changes it from E to W)then go back to sat setup green button to put a name in then exit advanced search to add transponders.dish will not move if you do it this way until you press "go to" in motorised settings

Thanks mate for your help, I edited 7W to be 7.3W and added the strongest tp to the sat and moved the dish from 5W the west but the signal remined 40% and below although I have 1.1M dish and read somehwere you can get about 200 channels on 7.3W with 1M dish but I never maganed to get signal over 40%
I couldn't move the dish to 30W because the celver guy who installed it put it high so if I move the dish many steps further to the west the dish hits the roof gutter.

yeah I"m not far from you near the humber bridge, with a 1mt televes I dont get any thing from that sat unless the weather is just right.some do ok, I think a lot depends where you are.your best bet is to use usals,if you set usals up accurately on any other sat then send the dish to 7.3W it will go to where it should be.be aware that you may pick up 8W channels(I made that mistake a while back when 7.3 increased power and I was searching for it)Flysat will give the TPs to look for.
